ABOUT HIMOscar Leonard Carl Pistorius (born 22November 1986) is a South African sprint runner.Referred to as the "Blade Runner" and "thefastest man on no legs",Pistorius, who has double below-knee amputations, is the world record holderfor T44 in the 100, 200 and 400 metres eventsand runs with the aid of Cheetah Flex-Footcarbon fibre transtibial artificial limbs by Össur
EARLY LIFEOscar Pistorius was born to Henke and Sheila Pistorius on 22November 1986 in Sandton, Johannesburg, in what was then TransvaalProvince (now Gauteng Province) of South Africa, with fibularhemimelia (congenital absence of the fibula) in both legs. When he was 11 months old, his legs were amputated halfway betweenhis knees and ankles He attended Constantia Kloof Primary and PretoriaBoys High School
SPORTING CAREERSometimes referred to as the "Blade Runner" and "the fastest manon no legs", Pistorius took part in the 2004 Summer Paralympics inAthens and came third overall in the T44 (one leg amputated belowthe knee)[ 100-metre event Despite falling in the preliminary roundfor the 200 meters, he qualified for the final.
