    • External factors and legislative framework
    • Social enterprises in most EU countries are small and  medium size enterprises (SMEs), contributing to establishment of sustainable economic model, where the individuals are more important than the capital;
    • There is no definition of social enterprise in Bulgarian legislation. The term "social enterprise” does not exist in any legal act - law or bylaw;
    • The form and activities of social enterprises are not particularly regulated by any legal act.

    • Registered in 1997 aiming creating better living conditions for the vulnerable groups in Drynovo
    • Strong support from the municipal government
    • Established an office for social care services within a project, implemented in 2001 and still existing with the partnership of the municipality
    • Provides more than 50 paid social services and with the revenues grant the same services to people with low income
    • Now opened a Daycare centre for elderly people as a state delegated activity (funded by the national budget)

    • Before the beginning
    • It is difficult to imagine that a young person could be seriously interested in the problems of the children that we meet on the streets every day. So, when a n informal group of young people from Stara Zagora tried to help the street children in the town, to many people this seemed not a logical (not to say suspicious) thing to do.
    • In April 1998 this group started look ing for children who lived on the streets. The volunteers tried to win their trust and friendship, which was not an easy thing to do… ..
