An empty soda can is held in equilibrium by the pressure of the air inside the can directed outwards and the pressure of the air outside the can directed inwards.

Put your initials on the bottom of your can
Place about 2 tablespoons of water inside the empty can. GOGGLES!
Heat the can on the burner until the water starts to boil.
Heating the water in the can causes the water to turn to steam.
WHAT DOES THE STEAM PUSH OUT OF THE CAN?

Now the can is held in equilibrium by the pressure of the steam pushing outwards and the pressure of the air outside the can pushing inwards.

When the steam is really coming out of your can, you will quickly pick it up with the beaker tongs and invert it into the cold water in the aquarium.
When the steam in the can is cooled by the cold water, it will INSTANTLY do what ?

Outside the can!
