  • Not a comprehensive presentation on social media. That’s impossible. \n\nRoadmap: each business is different and each business owner’s objectives are different. \n\nNot an ABC Guide to social media: there are other resources out there that do it exceptionally well. No point in recreating the wheel.\n\n\n\n\n
  • No matter which group I’m availing myself to, it’s all about the network and all about the conversation.\n\nMeeting friends/acquaintances in town who want to know more about “social media”; we usually end up having coffee/tea at my house and I show them in a relaxed environment to get them started.\n\nSocial Media can help you connect to people whom you share interests with on both the professional and personal levels. It can provide opportunities for personal development and growth, expanding one’s business and commercial opportunities, or help people find new jobs and careers.\n\n
  • Who are you? In my personal life, I’m a mother of 3, wife to 1. In my professional life, I’ve worked in ICT for the last 12 years in sales, education, operations and program management and am currently a Business Consultant with a TELUS. I have supported SMB market professionally for last 12 years.\n\nBut of course, we’re more than just those titles on any given day; this is why I created my about.me page. A snapshot of the things that engage me.\n\nThe groups I’ve gravitated toward are all SMB owners...farmers, restauranteurs, entrepreneurs...\n\nTitle: Curator of Dialogue; always been a storyteller & always have been interested in other people’s stories too\n\ngeek of the curious kind\n\nTEDxUW: What do you do?\n\n\n
  • I get involved in my community by volunteering a LOT. I have an incredibly supportive husband and community.\n\n\n
  • Twitter for three years, which is where I first encountered Linda and the SBCN.\n\nI’ve been supporting SMB for 12 years & this is the community that I look to engage.\n\nQuickly realized that she also blogged for TELUS Talks Business and I reached out to her to chat about the work she was doing for TELUS and SBCN.\n\n...and that’s how I do it. I find people online that are talking about the things that I am interested in and I reach out to them, directly.\n\n

  • If you’re a small or medium sized business owner, you can’t always afford to spend a day or more away from your business and since those small business owners are simultaneously the marketing, financing, sales and operations departments of their own business, adding on something new, especially something like social media can make it feel like you’re drinking from the fire hose.\n\n
