    1. Citizens suggestions for clean pantry food in Lalbagh Express Train number: 2607/2608 Submitted to: Smt.Mamata Banerjee, Honourable Minister for Indian Railways. Shri.K.H.Muniyappa, Honourable Minister of State for Indian Railways. By Jayaprakash Kulkarni, Chaitanya Eranki, Sajith PC
    2. Background  Lalbagh express carries 1200 passengers between Bangalore- Chennai in one direction every day  Lalbagh express has a pantry car which serves hot food at good prices to users  We are regular passengers in the train and travel every weekend  With the rise of epidemic like Swine flu, we felt the need for cleaner food service from the pantry
    3. Food is carried in open containers  Food is carried in open containers  Food can get easily contaminated by fellow passengers coughing or sneezing or from germs in flying dust
    4. Vendor touches the the food with bare hands  Vendor serves the food with bare hands by touching the food  Vendor collects money from the same bare hands  Vendor uses same hands to touch contaminated areas like toilet doors
    5. At the pantry  Cooks in the pantry car sweat a lot as they are are exposed to extreme heat  Food contaminates from sweat  Cooks do not use uniforms, hand gloves or head covers  Pantry staff do not have hygienic places to cut and prepare the food
    6. Garbage from food plates and cups  Food plates and paper cups are thrown inside the train and along side the track collect germs  This attracts houseflies, mosquitoes and other insects which carry the germs collected
    7. Diseases that spread by cough and sneeze Tuberculosis (TB) Influenza Influenza A (H1N1) - Swine Flu SARS Bird Flu Asthama Measles Chicken Pox Hib Pertussis
    8. Some Suggestions
    9. Covered containers for food Vendors can use covered containers to carry food Vendors can use plastic hand gloves while serving food
    10. Food wrapped in plastic foil Food can be wrapped in plastic foils cheap, fast and serves the purpose
    11. For the pantry Chefs can use uniforms with head mask and mouth cover Clean hygienic pantry with proper places for cutting, washing and preparing
    12. More garbage bins Please provide garbage bins or large garbage covers at every compartment
