  • 1. Beijing Olympics 2008 This year China is hosting the Olympics. Our group are the Opening Ceremony designers. We have made a power point to show you our thoughts on it.
  • 2. The March Past As with all march pasts the Greeks will come first then all the other places in alphabetical order except for China who will come last as they are the hosting country.
  • 3. China’s Flag Holder Our group has nominated Huang Shanshan a gold medallist in the Athens Olympics in 2004 for her Gymnast ability.
  • 4. Chinese Culture We predict that the opening ceremony will include Fireworks (China invented these), Lanterns (are at every ceremony), Pandas (Chinas most famous animal), Dragons (something China is famous for), Yellow and Red (Chinas lucky colours) and Acrobats (Chinas best athletes). All of these things are special and famous in China so could very well be included.
  • 5. Chinese Olympic Mascots The Chinese Olympic Mascots are Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying and Nini who represent the rings and colours of the Olympic rings. The Mascots will probably be included in the opening ceremony Huanhuan Jingjing Beibei Nini Yingying
  • 6. Speeches Our group has decided that Hu Jintuo (General Secretary of Communist Party China) will do the main speech.
  • 7. Release of the Pigeons In all Olympics over 100 pigeons are released to fly away and around the world. The Pigeons are always released before the cultural things and fireworks begin.
  • 8. Chinese National Anthem Arise, ye who refuse to be slaves; With our very flesh and blood Let us build our new Great Wall! The peoples of China are at their most critical time, Everybody must roar defiance. Arise!Arise!Arise! Millions of hearts with one mind, Brave the enemy's gunfire, March on! Brave the enemy's gunfire, March on! March on! March on, on!
  • 9. The Olympic Oath In the name of all competitors, I promise that we shall take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules that govern them, in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and the honour of our teams.“
  • 10. Raising of the Flag At every Olympics the traditional Olympic flag during the Olympic oath at the opening ceremony.
  • 11. The Olympic Torch We have decided that Liu Changchun will most likely light the torch. This is the relay order for the Olympic flame…Wang Junxia-Long- distance runner, Teng Haibin-Gymnist, Ma Ning–Javelin and Han Yucheng-20m Race Walker.
