eAudiobook Instructions

  3. 3. Click on MetroNet (Overdrive)
  4. 4. Or go straight to: http://ebooks.metronet.lib.mi.us/ </li></ul>B. Getting Started: MetroNet<br /><ul><li>Click: Quick Start Guide
  5. 5. Click: Step 1 – Download and install free software
  6. 6. Click: To download and install OverDrive Media Console, click here
  7. 7. Click: Download Now
  8. 8. Click: Save File
  9. 9. Choose to save the file to your desktop and click: Save
  10. 10. Go to Desktop of your computer
  11. 11. Double Click on the Icon (ODMediaConsoleSetup.msi)
  12. 12. Follow the Instructions. When In Doubt, Just Trust the Default Answers
  13. 13. It will be a little bit different for each computer. You’ll have to answer questions like these
  14. 14. Do you want to run this file? - Click: Run
  15. 15. The installer will guide you through the steps required to install OverDrive Media Console on your computer – Click: Next
  16. 16. Please take a moment to read the license agreement now. If you accept the terms below, click “I Agree”, then “Next” - Click: I Agree, then Click: Next
  17. 17. To install in this folder, click “Next” – Click: Next
  18. 18. Click “Next” to start the installation – Click: Next
  19. 19. Click “Close” to exit – Click: Close
  20. 20. An icon will be downloaded to your desktop for OverDrive Media Console
  21. 21. If the program doesn’t open automatically, open it by double-clicking on the icon
  22. 22. It might ask you to create default folders. You can trust the default folders that it chooses to create.
  23. 23. In Overdrive Media Console:
  24. 24. Tools Windows Media Player Security Upgrade
  25. 25. It will be a little bit different for each computer, but generally agree to the default setting. It will most likely ask you questions along these lines:
  26. 26. “To upgrade the security of your Windows Media Player, make sure you are connected to the Internet and click ‘OK’. – Click: OK
  27. 27. Windows Media Player will open and one of two things will happen
  28. 28. The File or device that you are trying to use requires a component of Windows Media Player to be upgraded. Click Upgrade to download and install the required component. – Click: Upgrade
  29. 29. The Component was upgraded successfully – Click: Close
  30. 30. You have successfully installed the Windows Media Player Security Upgrade – Click: Cancel
  31. 31. You have successfully installed the Windows Media Player Security Upgrade – Click: Cancel</li></ul>C. Getting Books:<br /><ul><li>Start back at Download Destination (See the earlier instructions – A. Start)
  32. 32. Search or Browse for a book
  33. 33. When you find a book that’s available….
  34. 34. Click: Add to eCart
  35. 35. Click: Proceed to Checkout
  36. 36. Select Baldwin Public Library
  37. 37. Login with your library card number
  38. 38. Click: Log In
  39. 39. (If applicable – agree to the Terms of Use)
  40. 40. Choose your lending period (7 days, 10 days, or 14 days)
  41. 41. Click: Confirm Check Out
  42. 42. Click: Download (under the picture of the book)
  43. 43. Open with (OverDrive Media Console) – Click: OK
  44. 44. It will give you a default place for downloading books. – Click: OK
  45. 45. All parts will be automatically selected – Click: OK
  46. 46. Wait for the book to download</li></ul>D. To Transfer to Your iPod:<br /><ul><li>Plug your iPod/iPhone into your computer
  47. 47. First time: Open iTunes
  48. 48. Go to your iPod Summary Screen
  49. 49. Check: Manually Manage Music
  50. 50. Click: Sync/Apply
  51. 51. Open OverDrive Media Console
  52. 52. Click: Transfer
  53. 53. Follow the Instructions. When In Doubt, Just Trust the Default Answers
  54. 54. It will be a little bit different for each computer. You’ll have to answer questions like these
  55. 55. Please connect your device and select “Next” to continue – Click: Next
  56. 56. Choose your device (if you have more than one plugged in)
  57. 57. Select “Next” to transfer the selected part(s) to your portable player – Click: Next
  58. 58. Wait while your book transfers
  59. 59. MP3 books take relatively little time to transfer
  60. 60. WMA books take much longer
  61. 61. The longer the book, the bigger the file, and the longer it will take to transfer
