  • You really think I can afford to pay the internet bill if I go offer the 3GB?! I'm a student and the unlimited was perfect when we had to research things.

Giffgaff are just money grabbing thieves like most companies these days. Time for a new network provider!

  • I have just left giffgaff due to this price increase and i have switched to EE where they have offered me 2000 mins unlimited texts 5GB data (4G) and unlimited 08 calls for just £10 a month it was brill being with giffgaff but as long as the possibility of constant price hikes then its not price worthy me still being with giffgaff plus add the fact the network constantly keeps going down nice one brill idea giffgaff and i though ya had great ideas at one point but obviously the love for the custom and loyalty has left home.

  • Thank you giffgaff ... I have just rejoined you after leaving 3 as I thought you offered a better service with which I was very happy with as you provided the best internet package. Why change now? You have now lost a potential new customer as I recommended you to a friend who was just about to join you until we read you proposals. You will be losing a lot of custom as 3 offer 200 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet for £12.50 a month. I do not consider myself a heavy internet user but like the idea of unlimited internet as I do not have to keep an eye on my usage. This is just a way of you getting more money out us ... why should we have to pay an extra £8 a month to get what you were initially providing?
I chose the £12 goodybag for the unlimited internet ... I do not send that many texts and the 250 minutes is enough for me every month.

  • No giffgaff, NO! This is a BAD idea to try hiking charges for those who clearly are the backbone of the giffgaff customer base...namely customers who have high end devices that will increasingly use MORE data and therefore require it to be unlimited. And while I'm on the subject: When you bring out 4G - are you going to restrict data to 1Gb like you did in the trial? REALLY???
PLEASE listen to all of us that have responded to this consultation. Many of your current customers require unlimited data - we all lead busy lives and do not want to be constantly watching data usage. AND we do not want to pay an extra £8 per month for that simple requirement. That's a price rise of 66%! (rather more than inflation!) As others have pointed out, there will be a mass exodus away from giffgaff if this comes about.
Suggestion: If prices rise in the wholesale market or pressure from O2 means that giffgaff has extra costs, then a £1 per month (8.3%) rise for unlimited data would still be a lot more than inflation but would be less likely to herald the disaster that is currently proposed. Most people in this thread agree: We are with giffgaff for DATA. Much less for text or minutes.

giffgaff Goodybag Consultation

  1. 1. Goodybag Consultation 6th August 2014
  2. 2. Welcome A big, warm welcome and thank you for taking the time to take part. As a member of the Mobile Network Run By You, we need your input to help us make the big decisions which would traditionally be made in the boardroom. It’s an unusual approach, but we think it’s the best way to be sure that we continue to make mutually beneficial decisions for our members, the community and our business. We aim to be as open and informative as possible, to make sure that you’re well equipped to make the right decision for yourself and other members, but if you have any further questions then just drop them into our official forum thread and we’ll do our best to help.
  3. 3. The need for change We know just how important mobile data is to you, so we listened particularly closely when some of you told us that your data experience doesn’t always live up to your expectations. Your data experience is influenced by a number of factors, including: We are particularly focussed on reducing our overall network congestion level during our busiest times. It is essential that we achieve this in order to protect your data experience for the future and build the capacity we need to continue growing as a business. Your handset Your local network The overall network
  4. 4. Reducing busy hour congestion There are two key ways that we can reduce congestion on the network during our busiest hours. 1. Traffic Flow 2. Goodybags Traffic Flow will continue to play an important role in improving the data experience on giffgaff, but today we would like to explore our Goodybag range with you. Data allowances must meet member needs and remain competitive, without encouraging excessive usage. Reduces congestion by ensuring that members get their fair share of network resource at peak times.

  6. 6. Member feedback Before we consider changes to the Goodybags, we have been through the forums to ensure that we are taking your feedback into account. • Data experience: You have asked us to focus on improving our data experience on giffgaff. • £12 goodybag – one of the most popular Goodybags which must continue to offer great value for data users. • Peace of mind – members value peace of mind on both their data and minutes allowances. • Full 4G launch: you would like us to move towards a full 4G launch as quickly as possible. Our proposed changes will be an important step towards delivering this and you can expect more on this soon. In response to this feedback, we have ensured that we offer options which deliver on each of these requests in this consultation.
  7. 7. Moving towards a decision Tips to making an informed choice: • Check your data usage on My giffgaff – Still not sure? We’ll be sending you an email to help. • Review the market – which of the pricing scenarios will be most attractive for new members? • Think about other members – Which option do you think is best for the whole community? • Remember the context – These changes will protect your data experience on giffgaff for the future. In a moment, we will share a series of possible Goodybag scenarios for you to choose between, please look through them and let us know your preference. Once you’re ready for the main consultation, click onto the next slide to see your Goodybag options.

  9. 9. Peace of mind We’re pleased to announce that as part of this change we will also be delivering the second most popular Community idea in giffgaff history. • The idea: You have asked for the ability to remove a Goodybag from your account, so that you can buy a new Goodybag if you run out of minutes or data. • The solution: We are working on a solution which will enable you to buy a new Goodybag when you’ve run out of data or minutes, even before your Goodybag has expired. • Data usage notifications: We will also be introducing on all of our Goodybags, informing you when you have used 80% and 100% of your data allowance, putting you in control. Thank you for suggesting such a great idea. It will help us to offer you additional peace of mind on minutes and data usage on Goodybags.
  10. 10. Over to you….. How to have your say: • Head over to the Community forums and get involved in the discussion. • You don’t need to make a decision immediately. Spend some time sharing your thoughts and listening to others before you make a final decision. • Cast your vote for your favourite option in our thread. • The consultation window will be open until the end of Sunday 17th August Thank you for taking part and we’re looking forward to hearing from you. Now it’s time to have your say.
  11. 11. Thank you
