Create a PowerPoint A full copy of this article can be found at the following link. All of the slides regarding how to make a PowerPoint presentation were copied from this article.
Step One
First, choose a slide design. I would say to choose this first because changing a slide design can change the whole layout of your presentation, so you want to choose one that you like in advance.
Step Two
Second, create a title slide. List the title of your presentation, and whatever other information is necessary, such as your name, the name of your class or the name of your organization.
Step Three
Create your slides. First, add in all text and charts. Visuals and transitions can come later. So, create your slides. Keep each slide to one main point. List a title on each slide. Write all wording in short, understandable phrases.
Step Three Example
For example, this is an effective slide: How to make a bowl of cereal - Get a bowl. - Fill the bowl with cereal. - Get milk from the refrigerator. - Pour milk in the bowl.
Step Three Example
This is NOT a good slide: This is how you should make a good bowl of cereal with the right amount of milk. - First, get a bowl out of the cabinet. Then get cereal and pour it in the bowl. - Pour milk in next because it's important. - Put the milk away.
Step Four
Add visuals, but only where necessary. Do not add clip art just for the sake of having pictures. Make sure any pictures are relevant to your presentation.
Step Five
Go ahead and use sounds and / or transitions, but make sure to keep them limited. Overdoing sounds and transitions will be distracting, and people will focus more on those than what your PowerPoint says.
Step Six
Make sure your fonts and formatting are consistent. You do not want to have the Arial font on one page and Times New Roman on another. Also, you do not want to use different styles of bullets on different slides.
Step Seven
Do a spell check. Make sure to catch any words that spell check may think are incorrect. For example, spell check does not know if you meant to say 'moral' or 'morale.' Make sure that any spelling errors are corrected with the right words.
Step Eight
Look at your layout and color scheme. Confirm that the layout is appropriate for the topic and the colors work well together. Make sure the words are easy to read.
Step Nine
View your PowerPoint slide all the way through to make sure that all visuals, sounds and transitions are functioning properly. Pay special attention to anything that is timed, so you can make sure to have enough time to complete your previous thought before the new information comes onto the screen.
Be Persuasive
You want your audience to read your book!
What happened in the book that was interesting?
What did you like about it?
What words could you use to make the book sound appealing?
What pictures, music, or video could you use to enhance your persuasion?
Everyone must speak
Every member of your group must participate in the speaking portion of this project.
Write a script to go along with your PowerPoint and your poster.
Divide the script among all of your members.
Requirements
Poster (18”x24”)
PowerPoint of at least ten slides
Script that runs between 3-5 minutes
A printed copy of your script
A copy of your PowerPoint saved to your H Drive
A copy of your PowerPoint saved to the Public Drive
Try Adding Pictures
Go to “Insert” and choose “Picture”
Then choose if you would like to use stock pictures (Clip Art) or your own picture (From File)
Once the picture is on the slide, you can move it around and change the color and size of it.
Video
Go to “Insert” and choose “Movies and Sounds”
Then choose if you would like to use stock movies (From Clip Organizer) or your own movie (Movie From File)
Once the movie is on the slide, you can move it around, change the size of it, and decide if you want it to start automatically.
Or Sound
Go to “Insert” and choose “Movies and Sounds”
Then choose if you would like to use stock sounds (Sound From Clip Organizer) or your own sound (Sound From File)
Once the sound is on the slide, you can decide if you want it to start automatically.
