2. Addition +
To say 3+5 we can use different words. We can say:
 Three plus five.
 Three and five.
 The sum of three and five.
 Three more than five.
 Three add five.

3. Subtraction -
To say 9-7 we can use different words. We can say:
 The difference between nine and seven.
 Nine minus seven.
 Take seven away from nine.
 Seven less than nine.
 Subtract seven from nine.

4. Multiplication x
To say 5 x 6 we can use different words. We can say:
 5 multiplied by 6
 5 times 6
 The product of 5 and 6

5. Division :
20:4 in words is 20 divided by 4

 What is five add five?
5 + 5 = 10
 What’s the difference between 15 and 10?
15 – 10 = 5
 Add 7, 6, 3 and 4.
7 + 6 + 3 + 4 = 20
 What is 10 plus 12?
10 + 12 = 22

7. More practise!
 Subtract 14 from 44.
44 – 14 = 30
 13 more than 14.
13 + 14 = 27
 Take 14 away from 20.
20 – 14 = 6
 Multiply 15 by 6.
15 x 6 = 90

8. To finish:
 What is ten more than twenty?
10 + 20 = 30
 What’s 24 divided by 2?
24 : 2 = 12
 What’s 8 times 5?
8 x 5 = 40
