    Close relationship with parents
    Concerned with grades and performance
    Involved in extracurricular activities
    Donate time to community service
    Technologically savvy
    High interest in math and science
    Demand secure, regulated environment
    * University presidents are concerned with their behavior and their ability to adapt.

    More than 75% of freshmen rated getting a better job, making more money, and learning about things that interest them as being very important to their decision to attend college.

    More than 30% of freshmen rated getting away from home and developing athletic skills as being not important.

    Based on the following characteristics of freshmen (concerned with grades and performance, involved in extracurricular activities, and donate time to community service), it is not surprising that getting a better job, making more money, and learning about things that interest them is very important to the majority of them.

    In addition, since most freshmen are close with their parents, it is not surprising that getting away from home is not very important in their reason to attend college.

    No, overall they are good students who are attending college for many reasons. They are hard-working, well-rounded, and concerned with relationships.
    Based on the data, these freshmen are concerned with the end results of college (getting a better job and making more money) and realize the importance of a college degree and the impact it has on their life.
