Blood Donation - Correlation & Regression Analysis Presentations

 1. 1. Correlation & Regression Analysis Presentations (Blood Donation at Red Cross)
By Sary Abu Nijem
BA 319
2. 2. Introduction
Red Cross (www.redcross.org) is a volunteer-led, humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief and education inside the United States.
Founded in 1881.
Established in Washington D.C by Clara Barton.
There are more than 700 locations (chapters) and 36 blood service regions.
The American Red Cross supplies roughly 44% of the donated blood in the United Sates.
They have responded to major crises such as Hurricane Katrina, 2007 Florida Tornadoes, June 2008 Midwest Floods, and 2010 Haiti Earthquake.
3. 3. Objective
Figure out if age influence blood donor frequency.
Summarize the relationship between age & blood donation frequency.
How many times a year would you expect a person whose age between 25-38 to donate blood.
4. 4. Data
Marketing Team Survey
Conducted by;
(www.givelife.org)
Alocal brand of the Red Cross
5. 5. First Time Donation
Ages
1 = 18-24
2 = 25-38
3 = 39-55
4 = 56-64
5 = 65+
1
6. 6. Age Respect to Blood Donation
B
L
OOD
D
O
N
A
T
I
O
N
1 = 18-24 2 = 25-383 = 39-554 = 55-345 = 65+
7. 7. Correlation (Gender, Age & First Blood Donation)
D
O
N
A
T
I
O
N
0 = Male
1 = Female
1 = 18-24 2 = 25-38 3 = 39-55 4 = 55-64 5 = 65+
8. 8. Scatter Plot
9. 9. Correlation Coefficient & Regression Analysis
Age is independent.
Frequency of Donating Blood is dependent.
By using regression analysis, increase in age has a slight increase to influence blood donation frequency.
Correlation = 0.049
Slope = 0.054
Intercept = 1.799
10. 10. Conclusion
If a person is between the ages of 25-38, how many times a year would you expect them to donate blood?
When I have calculated the intercept, the result shows that people ages between 25 to 38 tend to donate blood between 1 to 2 times a year.
11. 11. Recommendation
Continue to do what they are doing.
Spread more awareness through their website.
Increase blood drive participation and location.
12. 12. Questions?
