ABOUT TALENT21 <ul><li>$1.4 Million in ARRA funds </li></ul><ul><li>All 6 th & 7 th Grade students receive 1:1 mobile device </li></ul><ul><ul><li>BOE agreed to fund 2011 8 th Grade Students </li></ul></ul><ul><li>LIS & LMS Classrooms outfitted with new tech </li></ul><ul><li>Partnership with St. Ann School (6 th grade) </li></ul><ul><li>All 6 th -8 th grade teachers participate in PD </li></ul><ul><li>Coaches/Mentors work in classrooms w/staff </li></ul>

FUNDING <ul><li>The funding allows us to provide the following during the 2010-2011 school year </li></ul><ul><li>Grant Requirements: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>1:1 mobile device for every 6 th & 7 th grade student </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Device must follow students to 7 th /8 th grades </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Grant-funded technician for grant work only (19.5 months) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Grant-funded tech specialist for grant work only (19.5 months) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>25% budget MUST be professional development </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Classrooms must be 21 st century learning centers </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Projects must involve all content areas including related arts </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Evaluation & accountability must be evidence-based </li></ul></ul>

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT: STUDENTS <ul><li>From Students </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Use 1:1 mobile device to expand your learning opportunities, to produce authentic and creative work, to teach and reach others, and to contribute to the global society </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Be respectful of and responsible for all school property issued to students </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Follow rules and regulations regarding acceptable use of school property and access to internet in and out of school </li></ul></ul>

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT: PARENTS <ul><li>From Parents/Guardians </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Monitor your child’s learning environment at home ensuring that s/he is being respectful of and responsible for school property and following acceptable use of school property and access to the internet </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Educate yourself: internet safety, 21 st century skills </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Provide support and encouragement to help your child earn four C’s: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Creativity </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Critical Thinking </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Communication </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Collaboration </li></ul></ul></ul>
