Global warming

  1. 1. Global Warming Presented by: Ayesha Niaz Roll No. : 07
  2. 2. Introduction  Is the World getting WARMER?  If so, are the actions of mankind to BLAMES for the earth’s temperature increase?  What can/should be DONE about these issues?
  3. 3. The World is heating up and fast!
  4. 4. What is Global Warming?  Global warming is when Earth heats up and temperature increases  Greenhouse effect : Sun’s heat trapped in earth atmosphere, has trouble leaving back  Causes rise in Earth temperature.  It is increased by change in levels of Carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gasses, like  Methane  Nitrous oxide…  Rising temperature impose threats for  Environment  Living things – Plants, Animal and Humans
  5. 5. Yes! Climate is changing and Mankind actions are also responsible for it
  6. 6. What’s causing Global Warming? • Air Pollution  The smoke from the vehicles and factories gather up in the atmosphere, this later on fall as acid rain.  It leads the skin burns and the death of plants. • Deforestation  Trees and plants absorb CO2  Cutting trees, Decrease of O2  Increase of CO2  CO2 absorbs heat, resulting in Global warming.
  7. 7. • Use of Chemical Fertilizers  Fertilizers are rich in nitrogen oxide which is even more dangerous than carbon dioxide.  These oxides of nitrogen destroys the ozone layer even more faster than any other greenhouse gas .  Use of pesticides and fertilizers cause emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide
  8. 8. • Technology usage  Electronic gadgets generate heat, Contributing to global warming. • Volcanic Eruptions  Dust particles and gases from eruption stays in the atmosphere forming a cloud  These clouds make it difficult for the radiation from leaving the surface of the Earth
  9. 9. Increase in Rate of CO2 in Atmosphere
  10. 10. Air Pollution Technology use Deforestration Agriculture Factors contributing in Global warming
  11. 11. Effects on Plants and Animals Effects of global warming
  12. 12. • Increase in temperature • Rising sea levels
  13. 13. • Storms • Droughts
  14. 14. Ways to control Global Warming  Change a Light  Replacing one regular light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb  Save 150 lb of CO2 /year
  15. 15. • Drive less  Walk, bike, or take common transport more often  Save 1 lb of CO2 for every mile you don't drive! • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle  Recycling your household waste  Save 2,400 lb of CO2 /year  Use cloth shopping bags instead of getting paper or plastic at the grocery store.
  16. 16.  Plant a tree  A single tree will absorb 1ton of CO2 over its life time • Use the "Off" Switch  Turn off television, DVD player, phone charger and computer when you're not using them  Save 1000’s pounds of CO2 /year
  17. 17. • Spread the awareness  Try your best to educate people about global warming  Tell them how they can contribute their part by saving energy that will be good for the environment. Global Warming is a Global Warning
