Bella Wong Pop Culture Presenation

 1. 1. SpacesPop Culture vs. Bella
2. 2. Introduction
Hi my name is Bella Wong. I am 14 and deep within pop culture. The farthest I can remember of being in pop culture is since I was four years old.
Way back then, I ice skated and did ballet so the most music I listened to when I was young was classical music. To me that was as far as I went into pop culture.
3. 3. Influential Music
The most I heard of music from the ‘popular musical groups’ were ones from the 80’s and 90’s. I listened to Michael Jackson, ABBA, Police, Beatles, and the most recent, Enrique Iglesias. They were mostly what my parents listened to.
From
the past
I only listened to a few of the songs when I was little. I didn’t listen to music when I was little by choice. My parents would always play music in the car.
4. 4. I first saw Michael Jackson when I was about six. I was on my dad’s computer looking at music videos on ITunes. I found his video, and I thought it was so cool. I even tried to dance some of his moves, but it failed. I definitely didn’t like his fashion sense so I never tried to copy that. He made me love to dance.
Michael Jackson
5. 5. ABBA’s songs never influenced me very much. I heard their songs without ever knowing who sang them. I use to sing along with the songs. Some of them were lame to me, but some were awesome to dance to and sleep to.
Abba
6. 6. Police was another band where I listened to their songs, but I never knew who sang them. I listened to most of the songs in the car. They didn’t influence me much either. I love the band now but I don’t know how it influences me now.
Police
7. 7. These are the guys that I loved to listen to when I was little. I still didn’t know their name but I loved their songs. I danced and sang along. The lyrics were easy to remember. When I got my first iPod nano, they were the first band to put on.
Beatles
8. 8. I listen to a lot of music. Much, much more than when I did when I was little. I started to have a music craze when I turned around 10 or 11. I got my iPod nano then. When I got my iPod, that turned on the craze.
Influential Music
I love to listen to Rihanna, Panic! At the Disco, Evanescence, Plain White T’s, and the Black Eyed Peas. These are the bands that I listen to the most.
In the present
9. 9. Rihanna
She is not only influencing me through her lyrics, but the actual person is someone who has gone through hardships and gotten through. She rose from the bottom to the very top.
10. 10. I learned of Panic! At the Disco by my friend in the United States. Their music is fast and has a nice beat. Plus, some of their music has a hilarious comedic tone in them. They recently broke up but I still like their new album and members.
Panic! At the Disco
11. 11. She has awesome music. Some of her songs are a bit emo but I still like listening to them. Sometimes they make me feel down but most of the time it makes me feel better if I ever have a bad day.
Evanescence
12. 12. Plain White t’s
Plain White T’s are just a good band. They haven’t influenced me much. It makes me happy and psyched whenever I listen to it. I guess they make me happier?
13. 13. The Black Eyed Peas have great songs but are not very approved of by most people to influence a young person’s life. The lyrics make me feel a bit funny but the music is up beat.
14. 14. When I was…
Fashion!!
little…
15. 15. I didn’t even hear of the ‘style’ when I was little. My mom would buy my clothes, and whatever she bought, I never thought whether or not that I liked it. They were just clothes. It was not until later that I started to care how I would dress. I have noticed whenever I looked at my past pictures that I wore basically the same thing except for a few of the clothes were a bit cutesy.
16. 16. When I was really little, I just wore the clothes that my mom bought me. She might have been following fashion. She liked to buy dresses. I liked to buy jeans.
17. 17. The main thing that I noticed about fashion was also what some of the actresses that were about the same age as me wore as well.
I wore mostly leggings, jeans, and sweaters. Sometimes I would wear the occasional dress or something dressy but that was always for a school event.
18. 18. I never looked at magazines for the latest trends, past, present, or future.
19. 19. Present
Fashion
20. 20. Fashion hasn’t been a big thing to me. The clothes that I buy are clothes that I think are nice looking or cool. I like sweaters, any kind of tee, and jeans.
21. 21. The clothes that I love to wear the most are from Gap. They have clothes that I like and are my style. Plus all of them are comfortable and mostly warm.
22. 22. And sometimes I borrow my friends’ clothes. In this case, Clarissa’s jacket and mine are switched.
23. 23. I chose clothes that kept me warm in cold weather,
function over fashion.
24. 24. Movies
And their influence
25. 25. The Mummy and the Mummy Returns are two of my all-time favorites. In the movie, there is a lot about myths and archeology. I want to go to Egypt and learn all about the myths that the Egyptians learned. I was so inspired by Egypt that I tried to learn hieroglyphics. It failed…but I still want to tour around Egypt.
26. 26. Star Wars is a really good movie. I only like the first, second, fourth, fifth, and sixth. I wanted to see the world more and look for those other planets…
27. 27. I wanted to become a spy like these guys when I was really little. I got over it.
28. 28. I watched this movie when I was really little. I loved to sing along on the top of my lungs. I didn’t really get what I was singing about but it made me love music. I also knew that war was bad and don’t ever want to go to war.
29. 29. Language Trends
30. 30. I'm sorry that people are so jealous of me... but I can't help it that I'm so popular.
- Gretchen from Mean Girls
Well I don’t really say that but it is a really good quote! Plus it is ultra hilarious. Sometimes I say it when I kidding around with my friends. :P
31. 31. Stupid is what stupid does.
- Forrest Gump in Forrest Gump
Forrest Grump
So true
32. 32. And my personal favorite!:
I think we all say this.
Are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet?
-Donkey from Shrek
33. 33. Thank You for watching.
