4. GREEN BUILDING
MATERIALS
• BUILDING MATERIALS WHICH
ARE COMPOSED OF
RENEWABLE RESOURCES
RATHER THAN NON –
RENEWABLE.
5.
6. Current construction
practice
• consumes 3 billion tones of
raw materials per year.
• 1/6th of total water pumped
out of natural flows.
• It consumes 1/2 of world
energy production.
• Reason for 1/4th of virgin
wood harvesting.
7.
8. SELECTION CRITERIA
• RESOURCE EFFICIENT
• ENERGY CONSERVATION
• WATER CONSERVATION
• AFFORDABILITY
9. BENEFITS
• CONSERVE AND RESTORE
NATURAL RESOURCES
• IMPROVE AIR AND WATER
QUALITY
• REDUCES OPERATING COST
• ENHANCE OCCUPANT
HEALTH AND COMFORT
10.
11. • Green Concrete
• Bagasse cement boards
• Coir CNS boards
• Light weight sandwich panels
• Straw baled rods
• Low VOC Paints
• Roof top green Garden
• Rigid PVC Foamed and Un-foamed
Boards
12. GREEN CONCRETE
• Green concrete is a type of
concrete which represents
conventional concrete but the
production and usage requires
minimum amount of energy
causes and causes least harm to
environment.

MARBLE SLUDGE POWDER: It
had a high specific surface

15. FINE AGGREGATE: Modulus
of fineness is 2.2 specific
gravity is 2.677.
COARSE AGGREGATE:
Crushed stone with a size of

18. INFERENCE
• Water absorption of green concrete is
slightly higher than conventional
concrete.
• Durability of green concrete under
sulphate is higher to that of conventional
concrete.
• Replacement of fine aggregate with 50%
marble sludge powder and 50% quarry.
rock dust gives an excellent result in
strength aspect and quality aspect.
20. • Since it uses the recycled aggregates
and materials it reduces the extra load in
landfills and reduces the wastage of
aggregates.
• Reduces co2 emission , saves energy
and waste water.
• Helps in reducing the consumption of
cement overall.
• Use of fly ash also increases its
workability and many other properties
like durability to appreciable extent.
21. • Flexural strength of green concrete is
almost equal to that of conventional
concrete.
• Green concrete requires less
maintenance and repairs.
• Good thermal resistant.
22.
23. • SUSCEPTIBLE TO FROST ACTION
• SPILT TENSION OF GREEN
CONCRETE IS LESS THAN
CONVENTIONAL CONCRETE
25. What is bamboo?
• Bamboos are a diverse and primitive group of
perennial plants in the true grass family
• They are widely distributed throughout parts of
the world, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region
• Bamboo species vary in height from 1 ft to over
100 ft tall and have stem diameters ranging
from 1 mm to 30 cm.
26. Why is Bamboo important?
- Is excellent at sequestering carbon
dioxide and releasing oxygen .
- Prevents soil erosion and maintains
watershed integrity and soil health.
- Provides habitats and food for a
variety of species (Giant Panda,
Mountain Bongo, lesser bamboo bat,
etc)
27. Bamboo in Construction

the Leipzig Zoo using
bamboo for the building’s
envelope
32. Benefits of Building with
Bamboo
• The yield strength of bamboo is 25% greater
than that of timber.
• Has a tensile strength same as steel
(withstands up to 52,000 psi).
• Has twice the compressive strength of
concrete.
• Bamboo structures can be built very
quickly, are low cost, durable, and
environmentally friendly.
33. Drawbacks of Bamboo
• Untreated bamboo is susceptible
to attack by fungi and insects
• It is brittle in nature
34. COIR CNSL BOARDS
• It is a wood alternative which can be
used for surfacing,door and window
shutters, false ceiling, furniture etc.
35.
36. Properties of
CNSLaBoards pre
• It is single layer
stressed Medium Density
flat Fiber Board.
• It has low water
absorption capacity,
negligible change in
dimensions due to
absorption, Workable with
37. SAILENT FEATURES
• Estimated cost of the board is 30%
cheaper in comparison to
commercially available similar
products such as MDF board,
plywood .
39. Light weight sandwich
panels
• Made up of cellulose waste of paper
industries ,which are rich in small
fibers.
• Used for acoustics partitioning ,
paneling , thermal insulation , false
ceiling.
40. Let’s join hands to promote
this technology
for our better
sustainable future.

Split tension-It is a property of concrete by which we determine the fracture parameter of concrete....
