  1. 1. Media Center December Newsletter Issue: December 1, 2011 Created by: Autumn Schaffer Calling All Library Books! In order to ensure that no books are lost over the holiday break, all library materials are to be turned in by December 9. The following week the media center will be under inventory for the first half of the year. No one can checkout books after that date, but reading activities within the media center should go on as planned. On Board for The Polar Express! Our annual broadcast of “The Polar Express” will be on December 7, 2011. The students will be allowed to dress in their appropriate pajamas that day. The broadcast will begin at 12:30. We will check with 5 th grade to make sure they are back from lunch. The specials teacher and office staff will serve hot chocolate and cookies to each of the rooms. For pre-k and kindergarten students who have not read the book, will we air our narrated PowerPoint of The Polar Express on December 7, so that all of the students will be familiar with the book before watching the movie. Kindergarten Read-Around The Holiday Kindergaren Read Around will be held on December 13. This year the students will roatate between each kindergarten teacher for 30 minutes at a time. The theme is “Christmas Around the World.” The media specialist is currently working with the teachers to find different books and literature about how different places celebrate the holiday.
