  • 2. VARICOSE VEINSVaricose veins: are dilated veins that are characterized by the inability to establish an efficient return of blood to the heart (venous insufficiency).
  • 3. HOW THEY ARE PRODUCED? Are produced by an alteration of venous valves, devices located with in the lumen of the vein in the form of a birds nest double allowing unidirectional flow of blood toward the heart and return, in turn, prevents backflow of is at the periphery (retrograde venous reflux).
