  • 3. What are antonyms ?<br /> An antonym is a word that means the opposite of another word. <br />For example, the antonym of <br /> hot is cold.  <br />Some words can have more than one antonym, depending on the context in which the same word is used. <br />

Such antonyms include:<br /> true – false<br /> dead – alive<br /> day – night<br />
  • 11. Relational Antonyms<br />Pairs of relational antonyms are often considered as a third type. However, they are really a subcategory of complementary antonyms.<br />In this type of antonyms, there is a relationship in which the two opposites must both exist. For example, if someone is selling, there must be someone buying.<br /> husband – wife<br /> prey – predator<br />
