This holy name is a source of life and comfort ofhearts. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran: ‫اٌمٍٛة‬ ٓ‫رطّئ‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫ثزوش‬ ‫اال‬."Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest."Nowadays, despite having numerous ways of getting pleasure, man is still very far from peaceand harmony in his life. He is confused and wearied, and his worries manifest in differentforms. If we pause a little and think, the reason is not difficult to findAllah Almighty says: ٖ‫ٔؾؾش‬ ٚ‫ظٕىب‬ ‫ِعيؾخ‬ ٌٗ ْ‫فأ‬ ‫عشض‬ ‫ا‬ ِٓ ٚ,ّٝ‫اع‬ ‫اٌميّخ‬ َٛ‫ي‬(.ٗ‫غؾ‬:421)"But whosoever turns away from My Reminder, verily for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection."It means that inspite of availability of all possible means of recreation and worldly benefits, hewill not be able to use them, and remain spiritually restless. To him, this world will become aplace, bereft and desolate:"When this heart was like a garden, everything reflected spring, but when this heart got desolate, everything lost its lustre."Our Mushaikhs (saints) advise to do Zikr-e-Allah so that, human beings can realize the realaim of the life, that is to worship Allah Almighty. This affords pleasure of Allah Almightyand a peaceful life in this world with great reward in the Hereafter. Here, forty HadithsMubarak have been collected from different sources so that, people connected with Zikr circleand others, can understand the importance of Zikr-e-Allah. This will help them do Zikr withrenewed vigour. And if they want to invite others towards this everflowing bounty of Allah, they can quote Hadiths from this collection. At the end, I humbly request the readers that they should pray for my parents, teachers and Ithat Allah Almighty may bless this humble person with true love of Aulia Allah. Amin.Muhammad Nadeem NaqshbandiMopoto (Africa).

And Allah Almighty relates this in the company of the Angels.Explanation: This Hadith Mubarak shows the importance and nobility of Zikr-e-Allah. Whena group of people sit together to remember Allah, a special group of Angels surround theirgathering and give them glad tidings of salvation. The blessing of Allah covers them from allsides and their hearts get filled with love of Allah. It affords them deep spiritual peace andsolitude. The most important thing is that Allah Almighty remembers them in the company ofHis chosen Angels.Angels are an epitome of submission and worship. They are immune fromany propensity towards error and sin. On the other hand, human composition is a mixture ofgood and evil. He is all the time exposed to various temptations and allurements that hinderhis march to the goal of life. Despite all this, giving oneself to Zikr-e-Allah is his sign of lovefor his creator. In fact, this is the state and intensity of love which Allah Almighty talks aboutin front of Angels. „Lo see! These are My created being of that you complained about, howthey are immersed in My love and remembrance. They have parted with their share of worldlyattractions only for My sake. Instead they are inhibiting the world of heart with My Zikr.Hadith No. 2‫٘زا‬ ٚ‫عيش‬ ‫فمبي‬ ْ‫عّذا‬ ٌٗ ‫يمبي‬ ً‫عج‬ ٍٝ‫ع‬ ‫فّش‬ ‫ِىخ‬ ‫غشيك‬ ٝ‫ف‬ ‫يغيش‬ ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫سعٛي‬ ْ‫وب‬ ‫لبي‬ ‫٘شيشح‬ ٝ‫اث‬ ٓ‫ع‬‫وشاد‬ ‫اٌزا‬ ٚ ‫وضيشا‬ ‫هللا‬ ْٚ‫وش‬ ‫اٌزا‬ ‫لبي‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫ي‬ ٛ‫سع‬ ‫يب‬ ْٚ‫اٌّفشٚد‬ ‫ِب‬ ٚ ‫لبٌٛا‬ ْ‫اٌّفشٚد‬ ‫عجك‬ ْ‫عّذا‬.(ٍُ‫ِغ‬ ٖ‫سٚا‬)Translation: Hazrat Abu Hurariah (radiyallahu anhu narrated that the Holy Prophet ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ was on his way to Makkah, when he passed by a mountain called Jamdan, so, hesaid,"pay visit to this Jamdan and the singles have preceded." The Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬said, "those men and women who remember Allah very much."Explanation: On his way to Madina Sharif, the Holy Prophetٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ passed by amountain called Jamdan. He said, visit this mountain and that singles went ahead thanothers. When the companions asked who these singles were. The Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬said, those men and women who remember Allah very much. These are the people who are
  6. 6. wwwwww..iissllaammiirroooohhaanniimmiissssiioonn..oorrgg PPaaggee 6666singled out because of their remembrance of Allah. They do Zikr Allah to the extent thatpeople call them vain and pretentious although their hearts are so much absorbed in theremembrance of Allah that they do not pay any heed to what people might call them. But, it should be remembered that remembering Allah much is possible only by Zikr-e-Qalbi.With tongue we have to talk and deal with many other things in our daily life. Hence, it is notpossible to do Zikr all the time. One can do Zikr-e-Qalbi while working with hands or talkingto other people; thats why pious people (saints) say that while one is busy in work, heartshould be busy in the remembrance of Allah.Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran:‫هللا‬ ‫روش‬ ٓ‫ع‬ ‫ثيع‬ ‫ٚال‬ ‫سح‬ ‫رغب‬ ُٙ‫رٍٙي‬ ‫ال‬ ‫عبي‬ ‫س‬(‫إٌٛس‬:73)"Men whom neither trade nor sale (business) diverts from the remembrance of Allah."Hazrat Bah-ud-Din Naqshband Bukhari (may Allah bless his soul) said, I was surprised themost at two places. First, I saw a man in Harm Sharif Makkah, who was holding the BlackCurtain of Kaaba and praying to Allah while his heart was forgetful of Him.secondly, Ihappened to see a young man doing business of forty thousand Dihrams, but in his heart didnot lose sight of remembrance of Allah even for a moment.Hadith No. 3ٝ‫ِٛع‬ ٝ‫اث‬ ٓ‫ع‬,‫ٌّيذ‬ ‫ا‬ ٚ ٝ‫اٌؾ‬ ً‫ِض‬ ‫يزوش‬ ‫ال‬ ٜ‫اٌز‬ ٚ ٗ‫سث‬ ‫يزوش‬ ٜ‫اٌز‬ ً‫ِض‬ ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫ي‬ ٛ‫سع‬ ‫لبي‬ ‫لبي‬.(ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫ِزفك‬)Translation: Hazrat Abu Musa (radiyallahu anhu) narrated that the Holy Prophet ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ٍُ‫ع‬ said, “the one who remembers Allah, and the one who does not are like the living and thedead."Explanation: In this Hadith Mubarak, the Holy Prophetٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ ascribed those peoplewho do Zikr Allah as living and those who are forgetful as dead. The scholars of Islam saythat remembrance of Allah enlivens the heart while forgetfulness deadens it. In fact, the reallife lies in perpetual and continuous remembrance of Allah. Allah Almighty out of His Ever-flowing Grace and Bounty bestows eternal life to those hearts that get alive with His Zikr. They remain alive even after death.Allah Almighty says about the Shaheed (martyrs) that they are living and get their share ofsubsistence from their Lord. Similarly, these Zakireen (those who do Zikr) embrace an eternallife after their physical departure from this world. On the other hand, the forgetful of Allah aredead both in this world and the Hereafter. Being alive, their life becomes useless."Its not the life at all that I have; livings are those who have nearness with the Friend."In other words, nearness to Allah is in fact the real life, and this is not possible without Zikr-e-Allah. This simile of living and dead shows that the living is outwardly decked with Noor-Hayat (light of life) in which he is an independent and free individual who makes his owncareer. At the same time, Allah gives him Noor-e-Batani (Inner Light) which enlightens hisinner being with knowledge, and he treads the Path of Truth in this light. The dead has no sign
  7. 7. wwwwww..iissllaammiirroooohhaanniimmiissssiioonn..oorrgg PPaaggee 7777of life; hence option of making choices has no meaning for him. Those who forget Allah, theiroutward gets suspended and inner dark, therefore throughout their life, they grapple indarkness. Maulana Rumi aptly said,"This life is to worship and remember Allah, for without remembrance of Allah life isbut shame."Hadith No. 4ْ ‫فب‬ ٝٔ‫وش‬ ‫ر‬ ‫ارا‬ ٗ‫ِع‬ ‫أب‬ ٚ ٝ‫ث‬ ٜ‫عجذ‬ ٓ‫ظ‬ ‫عٕذ‬ ‫أب‬ ٌٝ‫رعب‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫يمٛي‬ ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫سعٛي‬ ‫لبي‬ ‫لبي‬ ‫يشح‬ ‫٘ش‬ ٝ‫اث‬ ٓ‫ع‬‫و‬ ‫ر‬ ٗ‫ٔفغ‬ ٝ‫ف‬ ٝٔ‫وش‬ ‫ر‬ٗ‫ر‬ ‫ش‬ُِٕٙ ‫خيش‬ ‫ِالء‬ ٝ‫ف‬ ٗ‫ر‬ ‫وش‬ ‫ر‬ ‫ِالء‬ ٝ‫ف‬ ٝٔ‫وش‬ ‫ر‬ ْ‫ا‬ ٚ ٝ‫ٔفغ‬ ٝ‫ف‬.(ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫ِزفك‬)Translation: Hazrat Abu Hurariah (radiyallahu anhu) narrated that the Holy Prophet ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬‫عٍي‬ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ said, Allah Almighty says that I deal with human being as he thinks about Me.When he remembers Me, I also remember him. If he remembers Me alone, I also rememberhim alone; if he remembers Me in a company, I remember in a company better than that(company).Explanation: Three subjects are dealt in this Hadith Mubarak. Firstly, Allah Almighty dealswith man what he thinks and supposes. If a human being repents sincerely of his sins andwrongdoing and places a good hope in Allahs Mercy and Forgiveness, Allah Almightyaccepts his repentance and forgives his sins. Similarly, when he prays to Allah with fullconviction and belief that it is Allah Almighty Who listens to His creations and accepts theirprayers, Allah Almighty will fulfil all his supplications. In short, Iman (faith) lies in betweenhope and fear. Those who find this state in their life, they understand the secret of life. Theyneither become too passive nor too optimist about their wishes and actions.Secondly, whenever a human being calls his creator, he finds Him quite near. The blessings ofAllah come to rescue him from every difficulty. His love become purely the love of Allah;and his worship becomes the worship of Creator, the Supreme Being.Making friends with thisman, who is a friend of Allah, is in fact, friendship of Allah Almighty. Allah Almighty putshis love in the hearts of all His created beings, including the Angels. The love of these peoplebecomes a key to Paradise. Hazrat Farid-ud-Attar (may Allah bless his soul) says:" The love of saints is a key to Paradise, and those who bear enmity to them deservethe curse."The third subject deals with the relationship of human being with his creator. Allah Almightysays that whenever a human being remembers Him in his heart (alone), I also remember himalone. My Murshid-e-Kamil Hazrat Allama Professor Muhammad Maqsood IllahiNaqshbandi says that anyone who does Zikr-e-Qalbi, Allah Almighty will reward him in sucha way that even the Angels will not know it. This is in fact, what this Hadith Mubarak callsremembering Allah alone (in heart). Whenever people remember Allah collectively sitting in acircle, Allah Almighty talks about them in the company of Angels.

O, Abu Razeen, do you know, when someone leaves hishome to see his Momin (believing) brother, seventy thousand Angels accompany him whopray or him and say, O Lord, he is meeting for your sake, so give him your nearness. If youcan do it hold fast to it.Explanation: The Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ mentions many acts of good deed in thisHadith Mubarak. Firstly, Muslims are exhorted to attend congregations of Zikr-e-Allah asmany times as possible. Obviously, these gatherings reinvigorate and refresh our relationshipwith our Creator. These congregations are also a sure source of blessing of Allah. Accordingto another Tradition there are some special Angels who always search for such gatheringswhere people sit together and remember Allah. Whenever they find such people, they coverthem with their Noorani wings and Blessing of Allah descends upon that circle of people. Toremember Allah alone is praiseworthy but attending such gatherings wins pleasure of Allah toa greater degree.Secondly, the believers are advised to love and hate only for the sake of Allah. This is one ofthe important part of Iman (faith). The companions of the Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬were endowed with this quality and degree of Iman. Allah Almighty sent His Revelation toHazrat Musa (Moses) ‫ع‬َ‫اعال‬ ٗ‫ٍي‬ "Have you ever done anything for Me?" Allah Almightyquestioned Hazrat Musa َ‫اعال‬ ٗ‫عٍي‬ .The prophet of Allah replied, "Illahi, I have offered prayersfor You, observed Fast and given alms and paid Zakat." Allah Almighty said, “prayer is aproof for you, Fast is a shield, alms is a shade for you, but what have you done forMe?"Hazrat Musa َ‫اعال‬ ٗ‫عٍي‬ asked Allah Almighty, "O Lord! Then tell me what is that deedwhich is for You alone?" Allah Almighty replied, "have you done friendship and animositywith someone for My sake?"Thirdly, according to this Hadith Mubarak the Angels of Allah pray for the personwho meets his Momin brother for the sake of Allah. The number of Angels counted here isseventy thousand. If this reward is only for meeting a believing brother than what would bethe reward of meeting Aulia Allah and men of knowledge that one can hardly imagine.

The Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ said, “Allah Almighty asks the Angels though Heknows the best about them. What do My these men say? The Angels reply that these menare praising and extolling You. The Holy Prophet ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ٍُ‫ع‬ said Allah Almighty asksthem, "have they seen Me?" The Angels say by God, they have not seen You. Then AllahAlmighty says, “what it be like if they see Me?" The Angels say that they will praise Youeven more. Allah Almighty asks them, "what do they ask for?" The Angels reply that theyask for Paradise. Allah Almighty asks them if these men have seen Paradise. The Angelsreply that they havent seen Paradise. Then Allah Almighty says, “what will they do if theysee Paradise?" The Angels reply that they will covet and crave for it even more. Then AllahAlmighty asks, “what do they seek refuge against?" The Angels reply that they seek refugeagainst Hell. Allah Almighty then says, "Have they seen Hell?" The Angels reply innegative. Allah Almighty says, “what if they see Hell"The Angels say that they would fear itmore and seek refuge against it. Then Allah Almighty says, “O Angels! Bear witness, I haveforgiven them all." The Holy Prophetٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ says, an Angel says, " O Allah! There is aperson in them who has come for his own personal reason." Allah Almighty says that the onewho accompanies them can never be unfortunate."Explanation: This Hadith Mubarak underlines the importance of Zikr congregations wherepeople sit together and remember Allah. This act of theirs pleases Allah Almighty to theextent that He Himself talks about them with Angels. These Angels tell Allah Almighty thatthese people have gathered for the sake of Allah alone. They ask for Paradise and seek refugeagainst Hell. Allah Almighty bears witness the Angels that He has forgiven them and grantedtheir wishes. Although Allah knows well about their desires and prayers, yet He asks fromAngels so that they can stand witness that Allah Almighty has forgiven all their misdeeds andgranted salvation. Secondly the people who accompany such blessed souls never remaindeprived of Allahs everflowing Bounty even though they have their own worldly ends. Onecan hardly imagine the reward for those who accompany these people solely for the sake ofAllah.Hazrat Farid-ud-Din Attar (may Allah bless his soul) says:"if you have sapience and wisdom, be a Dervish (saint) and sit with Dervishes.""never sit with but Dervish, and do not backbite them as long as it is possible."Hadith No. 7

The companionsasked the Holy Prophetٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ to tell them. He said, "Your best people are those whosesight makes you remember Allah."Explanation: According to another Tradition, these men of Zikr Allah are in fact a key toremembrance of Allah because these are the people whose very sight enhances ones urge forZikr-e-Allah. Zikr is such a great wealth that when these people do Zikr, Allah Almighty talksabout them in the company of Angels. But this wealth can not be secured without thecompany of men of Allah. Maulana Rumi says:" A moment in the company of men of Allah is better than hundred of acts of exerciseand worship."A man came in the company of Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (may Allah bless his soul). HazratJunaid (may Allah bless his soul) asked him, "What do you do?" He answered, "I live withAlmighty Allah because He says, I am with him who remembers Me. Hazrat Junaid (mayAllah Almighty bless his soul) said, "O man of Allah! The Holy Prophetٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ said, "I swear by Allah inWhose Hands is my life, the state of Zikr and reflection that you experience in my companyif persisted forever, Angels would shake hands with you in your beds and in the ways. But OHanzla, this state lasts for a moment or half (he repeated these words thrice)."Explanation: Hypocrisy is something that conceals inner corruption by agreeable outercovering. When the companions of the Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ used to sit in the companyof the Rasool Allah ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ they would forget about the world and its trail of worriesand troubles. But, when they would go to their wives, children and daily business, that state ofheart would change, thats why these companions called themselves hypocrites. The HolyProphet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ highlights the merit of his company that if it persisted, Angels wouldhave shaken hands with them in their beds and ways.Heart is called House of Allah in human body. It is a place of Marafat of Allah (trueunderstanding of Allah). But it ever changes and never stays at one state. Sometimes, itinclines towards virtue and at other becomes a hub of satanic whispering and intrusion.Someone said: Qalb (heart) has been name as Qalb because it changes at every moment. This heart gets stabilized when it gets busy in the remembrance of Allah. This Zikr-e-Allahcauses Noor-e-Illhi to descend in to the heart. The religious saints advise Zikr-e-Qalbi becauseit enlightens the heart with Noor-e-Ellahi and it becomes truly a home of Allah. Hakim Senaisays:The heart is a place of vision of Allah. Why do you call house of Satan as heart?"The heart that reflects Divine reflections becomes a friend of Allah. The companions said, "do tell us."The Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ said," It is Zikr-e-Allah."Explanation: Zikr-e-Allah has been described as the best deed in this Hadith Mubarakbecause the object of all the acts of worship is remembrance of Allah. Someone asked HazratSalman Farsi (radiyallahu anhu) as to what is the greatest act of worship. He replied, "Haveyou not read in the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty says, ‫هللا‬ ‫ٌزوش‬ ٚ‫اوجش‬. To remember Allah is infact gist of all kinds of worship. I have heard my Sheikh-e-Kamil Hazrat Allama ProfessorMuhammad Maqsood Illahi Naqshbandi saying that the importance of Zikr-e-Allah is evidentfrom the following Hadith Mubarak, "there is always a tool or device to clean everything (asrusted iron is put in fire, water cleans the cloth etc.) the purity of heart is achieved by Zikr-e-Allah."The purification of heart also depends on the soundness of heart and its degenerationstarts due to corruption in the heart. The health and purity of heart is only possible with Zikr-e-Allah. The religious saints consider Zikr-e-Qalbi (Zikr by heart) as Zikr mentioned in aboveTradition. The essence of this Zikr lies in Muraqaba (mental concentration) and remembranceof Allah. The correctness of action depends on the intention and later takes its recourse fromthe heart. The purity of heart is done by Zikr-e-Allah. According to a Tradition, one momentof thought is described better than seventy years of worship. Sheikh Khaqani says:"This fact dawned on Khakhani after twenty years that to busy oneself onemoment in Zikr-e-Allah is better the Dominion of Suleman (Solomon)."Since the purpose of all acts of worship is to remember Allah, thats why this has been madecompulsory without any limitation of time and space.Hadith No. 10ٚ ٖٚ‫عّش‬ ‫غبي‬ ٌّٓ ٝ‫غٛث‬ ‫فمبي‬ ‫خيش‬ ‫إٌبط‬ ٜ‫ا‬ ‫فمبي‬ ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ ٝ‫إٌج‬ ٌٝ‫ا‬ ٝ‫اعشاث‬ ‫عبء‬ ‫لبي‬ ‫يغش‬ ٓ‫ث‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫عجذ‬ ٓ‫ع‬‫هللا‬ ‫وش‬ ‫ر‬ ِٓ ‫غت‬ ‫س‬ ‫ٌغبٔه‬ ٚ ‫اٌذٔيب‬ ‫رفبسق‬ ْ‫ا‬ ‫لبي‬ ً‫افع‬ ‫عّبي‬ ‫اال‬ ٜ‫ا‬ ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫سعٛي‬ ‫يب‬ ‫لبي‬ ٍّٗ‫ع‬ ٓ‫ؽغ‬.(ٜ‫ِز‬ ‫رش‬ ٚ ‫اؽّذ‬ ٖ‫سٚا‬)Translation: Hazrat Abdullah bin Yasser (radiyallahu anhu) narrated that once an Arabi cameto the Holy Prophet ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ٍُ‫ع‬ and asked, "Who are the best people?"The Holy Prophet ٍٝ‫ص‬ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ said, "Glad-tidings are for the person who lives a long life and performs gooddeeds." The Arabi then asked, "What are the good deeds?" The Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬said, "you keep yourself away from the world and your tongue filled with Zikr-e-Allah."Explanation: On questioning by an Arabi, the Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬described the best person as to who lives long and does good deeds. Although the HolyProphet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ sought refuge of Allah from old age, but it becomes desirable and asource of pleasure of Allah if passed in obeying and submitting to Allah Almighty. In fact,Allah Almighty loves those who remember him constantly for a long time. In other words,Zikr-e-Allah makes us beloved of Allah.According to religious scholars ْ‫اٌٍغب‬ ‫غت‬ ‫س‬ means to remember much because if someoneloves, he remembers his beloved very much. According to another interpretation, whenbeloved of Allah remembers Him their tongues experience strange savour. They not only

We haveseen in the religious circles of our Mushaikhs that when they advise Zikr to someone, theirtongue produces the same sweetness when they say Allah! The listener also relishes itssweetness. Maulana Rumi says:"Allah! Allah! What a sweet name is this! The companions asked as towhat these gardens of Paradise were. The Holy Prophet ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ٍُ‫ع‬ said, "Circles of Zikr-e-Allah."Explanation: The Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ exhorts the Muslims to participates in and holdfast to the gatherings where Zikr-e-Allah is done. He refers to them as gardens of Paradise. The word graze is taken from eating and it gives the sense of voraciousness, means makemaximum use of these circles of remembrance of Allah. By grazing well means they shouldgather all possible blessings of Allah. If an animal happens to enter a pasture, it grazesvoraciously no matter the shepherd flogs it hard. Similarly whenever a Momin (Believer)comes across such a circles of Zikr, he profits himself to the full no matter what troubles comein his way. When a Muslim starts treading the Way of Allah, problems start obstructing hisway. He faces the opposition and taunting behaviour of the people. In this Hadith Mubarak theHoly Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ urges the Muslims to hold fast to these gatherings as if they wontget the second chance. These gatherings are a real source of salvation thats why they arecalled gardens of Paradise.Paradise is an eternal abode of peace where there will be no trouble whatsoever. Similarly, these gatherings afford mental and spiritual peace, and keep us safe from the miseries andtroubles of this world. Above all with the grace of Allah, one is saved from the mischief ofSatan. In another Hadith Sharif the Holy prophet ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ٍُ‫ع‬ said, if there is an enemy aftersomeone and there is a castle of iron in front, will he have any danger from his enemy? Thecompanions replied, "what danger he can have" The Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬said, someone who does Zikr Allah is saved from the mischief of Satan, in the same way asthis man is saved from his enemy."In other words, these circles of Zikr Allah are strong castlesthat provide us protection and security against all types of satanic mischief and evil self.In another Hadith Zikr-e-Allah has been described as "cure of hearts". Like bodies, hearts alsobecome sick. These diseases appear in the form of prejudices, envy, pride and self-praise.These and other ailments inhibit flowering of all good deeds. Their cure lies in Zikr Allahonly.Hadith No. 12

Daily, we attend many such gatherings where there is nothing except play andamusement. Whenever, some friend sit together and chatter and gossip, they regard it as awonderful company where they enjoyed themselves, though it is nothing but wastage of timeand obliviousness. In this way, we spend our days and nights in futile discussions, and worstof all we never realize the waste of precious moments of time that could have been used inremembrance of Allah, given the short span of mans life in this world. How much harm weincur while sitting in these gatherings will be shown in the Hereafter where we will bedesperate for each and every good deed. This man will wistfully say to his Lord, send meback to the world again, so that I could please you. But that does not happen. The only wayto please Allah is Zikr-e-Allah. If we perform our daily chores keeping in view the pleasure ofAllah according to the dictates of Shariah, they remain no more worldly pursuits; then whatwould be the state of those gatherings, which are specially arranged for Zikr-e-Allah. Thesecongregations not only save us from despair and loss in this world but are also source ofsalvation in the Hereafter. Blessed are those who come from far and wide to participate inthese gatherings. Their sole purpose is to win the pleasure of Allah Almighty and thecompany of Allahs chosen beings. In an Hadith the Holy Prophetٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ said that evenif someone comes in these congregations with purpose other than participating in them, AllahAlmighty forgives his sins.Hadith No. 13‫لبي‬ ٕٗ‫ع‬ ‫هللا‬ ٝ‫سظ‬ ‫عّش‬ ٓ‫اث‬ ٓ‫ع‬‫ثغيش‬ َ‫اٌىال‬ ‫وضشح‬ ْ‫فب‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫روش‬ ‫ثغيش‬ َ‫اٌىال‬ ‫رىضشٚا‬ ‫ال‬ ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫سعٛي‬ ‫لبي‬ٝ‫اٌمبع‬ ‫اٌمٍت‬ ‫هللا‬ ِٓ ‫إٌبط‬ ‫اثعذ‬ ْ‫ا‬ ٚ ‫ٌٍمٍت‬ ‫لغٛح‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫روش‬.(ٜ‫اٌزشِز‬ ٖ‫سٚا‬)Translation: Hazrat Ibn Umar (radiyallahu anhu) narrated that the Holy Prophetٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬said, "Do not talk much without Zikr-e-Allah because talking much without Zikr-e-Allahhardens the heart. And far from Allah among people is the one who has a hard heart."Explanation: All the religious scholars and Sufia Ikram are agreed on the importance ofsilence. They affirm silence as an antidote that cures all kinds of troubles. There is a Traditionthat the one who kept quite found salvation. But, if it is all the more necessary to talk than saynothing except Zikr-e-Allah. This means that our talk should be polite and courteousaccording to the Sunnah of our beloved Holy Prophet If any conversation doesnot hurt any other brother, this will become Zikr. Immoral and useless talks not only incur sinand displeasure of Allah but also causes the heart to become hard. This hardness of the heart

When herepents, he gets satisfaction.3-Qalb Mushtaq: This is the heart of submissive and obedient Muslim who has found rest inremembrance of Allah. This has been described in the Holy Quran:"Those who believed, and whose hearts rest in the remembrance of Allah; Verily in theremembrance of Allah do hearts find rest." (28:13)4-Qalb Wajadni: These are the hearts of prophets and beloved of Allah who have found restwith the understanding of attributes of Allah and His Being. People who amass wealth and do not part with the due of kin and the poor asdescribed by Allah Almighty, they neither eat themselves nor let others eat out of it. Thewealth and riches of such people will become snakes and scorpions in the Hell. This fortune oftheirs will be hanging round their necks, and it will be declared, this is the wealth yougathered, today it will remain with you in this shape. If someone spends his wealth in the wayof Allah, it will become a source of ease and comfort for him. The companions of the Holyprophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ used to wonder if they could know the best deed. The Holy Prophet ٍٝ‫ص‬ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ told them that if they have a tongue that remembers Allah much, a grateful heartand a pious wife who help them in their Deen, they possess a great deed. In truth, a gratefulheart remembers his Benefactor much, and with a faithful and virtuous wife his faith becomescomplete and safe.

They replied that they were sitting there toremember Allah. He said, "By God! Are you sitting for the same purpose?" They said thatthey were sitting for the purpose nothing other than that. This was all the more important because AllahAlmighty was taking pride in them. Necessary occupation and daily needs and chores stophumans from Zikr-e-Allah. Despite all these restrictions, they are still busy in rememberingtheir Benefactor, thats why Allah Almighty talks about them in the company of Angels. Allah Almighty will raise them high in ranks because of their forbearance.Allah Almighty has given glad tidings to those people who face hard times in this life. But,Zikr-e-Allah is that blessing if done on soft and cushy beds, Allah forgives sins and raises

On the basis of this Hadith Mubarak Sufia Ikram say that sultans and rulersshould not be stopped doing Zikr because they can achieve high degrees and ranks in thisway. Instead, many Sufia advise sultans and rulers to do Zikr besides serving people so that, they can please Allah and win His favour. Hazrat Abu Darda (radiyallahu anhu) said, if youmake Allah share your happiness and bliss, He will remember you in your trouble andaffilictions.Similarly, Hazrat Salman Farsi (radiyallahu anhu) said that the person whoremembers Allah in happiness, when he calls in trouble, the Angels say that this voice seemsfamiliar and they pray for him. And, if a person forgets Allah in his good days, when he callsAllah in trouble, the Angels say that this voice is not familiar, and they do not pray for him. This means whether one is poor or rich, in journey in rest, in good health or in sickness oneshould remember Allah all the time. The Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ replied, "Those men and women who rememberAllah."the people enquired even better than Ghazi (the one who fights in the way of Allahand returns victorious). He said, "if he applies his sword on non-believers and infidels till itbreaks and stained with blood, even then the one who remembers Allah is better than him."Explanation: When the companions of the Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ asked him aboutbetter people, he replied that these are the one who remember Allah. This means that peoplehave enduring relationship with Allah through Zikr, and they should be grateful to Him. Nodoubt, Ghazi has his own higher rank before Allah, but if an element of vanity creeps in hisintention, all his efforts go waste. Sincerity in action has the same place as the soul has in thebody. The perpetual remembrance of Allah and ones realization of true relationship withAllah brings an element of sincerity. When the latter becomes a permanent element in actions,it makes acts of worship even more durable and meaningful, thats why, Zikr has superiorityover all other kinds of worship. But, it does not mean one should neglect all the duties andobligations. After performing necessary duties and obligations, one should spend as muchtime in Zikr as one can do. This is in fact the gist of worship. Maulana Rume says:"that is a smaller Jihad(against infidels) and this is a greater Jihad(against the Self). Tofight is the job of Rustam and to remember Allah that of Hazrat Ali (radiyallahu anhu).”

Allah Almighty replied, "My sincere men will not be taken in by youbecause they will remember Me all the time." This fact has been described in this HadithMubarak that Satan occupies the heart of human being. When the latter engages in Zikr-e-Allah, Satan runs away and if he is oblivious, it occupies his heart again. This has been givenin the Holy Quran:ٓ‫لشي‬ ٌٗ ٛٙ‫ف‬ ‫ٔب‬ ‫ؽيطب‬ ٌٗ ‫ٔميط‬ ّٓ‫اٌشؽ‬ ‫روش‬ ٓ‫ع‬ ‫يعؼ‬ ِٓ ٚ( .‫اٌضخشف‬:17)"And whosoever turns away blindly from the remembrance of Allah the Most Gracious,We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan) to be a Qarin (companion) to him"That is, whosoever, disregards remembering Allah, he will be associated with Satan and thosewho remember Allah much will be saved from Satanic intrusion. Among all body parts heartis the only organ where Satanic and Divine forces are at loggerhead all the time. The thoughtsof virtue and good deed indicate the ascendancy of Divine forces over the satanic elements.Hence, in the later case, one should immediately get busy in Zikr-e-Allah and help strengthenthe Divine forces again. And, the onewho remembers Allah among the forgetful is forgiven like every son of Adam and cattle."Explanation: This Hadith Mubarak shows the superiority of those people who rememberAllah over those who are heedless. Striving against ones evil self has been named as Jihad-e-Akbar (greater Jihad) because this is lasting and perpetual till one is living. Zikr is one of themain weapons in this Jihad to fight out evil and satanic forces. Those have forgotten the realaim and purpose of life, as outlined in the Holy Quran, they become a ready tool in the handsof their evil desires and satanic manipulations. On the other hand, Zakreen (those who doZikr) are in continuous fight against their evil selves and satanic whisperings. This thingrefreshes their faith and Allah Almighty rewards them in this world by showing them theirabode in Paradise. Hazrat Farid-ud-Din Attar (may Allah bless his soul) says:"keep your mornings and evenings alive with Zikr-e-Haq, and do not let yourdays pass in obliviousness."Hadith No. 20‫هللا‬ ‫روش‬ ‫اال‬ ‫فيٙب‬ ‫ِب‬ ْٛ‫ٍِع‬ ٚ ‫ٍِعٛٔزخ‬ ‫اٌذٔيب‬ ‫يمٛي‬ ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫سعٛي‬ ‫عّعذ‬ ‫لبي‬ ٕٗ‫ع‬ ‫هللا‬ ٝ‫سظ‬ ‫٘شيشح‬ ٝ‫اث‬ ٓ‫ع‬‫ِزعٍّب‬ ٚ ٌُ ‫عب‬ ٚ ٖ‫ٚاال‬ ‫ِب‬ ٚ.(ٗ‫ع‬ ‫ِب‬ ٓ‫اث‬ ٚ ٜ‫اٌزشِز‬ ٖ‫سٚا‬)Translation: Hazrat Abu Hurariah (radiyallahu anhu) narrated that he heard the HolyProphet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ saying, "this world is accursed and everything in it is also accursedsave Zikr-e-Allah and that helps in this, and the one who teaches and the one who learns."Explanation: There is a Tradition that if this world had value equal to the wing of a mosquito,Allah Almighty would not have given provision to the non-believers. But, the reality of thisworld is even less than the value of mosquitos wing, which shows insignificance of materialworld. Thats why, this world has been accursed except Zikr-e-Allah and those who teach andlearn knowledge. Since Zikr-e-Allah is the ultimate aim of human life in this world, thosethings that inhibit remembrance of Allah in any form have been accursed, as they stop ordetract human will and disposition towards his ultimate goal. Those things, which promoteZikr and remembrance of Allah and help human being winning the pleasure of Allah, areexempted from this curse. Those who teach and learn religious knowledge are also out of thiscategory. This underpins the importance of knowledge in human life. Islam is a Divine lightthat helps man finding his true place in the scheme of things, and a sure source of DivineMarafat. This relationship goesto the extent that whenever they do His Zikr, Allah Almighty gives them His nearness.According to a Tradition, the one who is given three things in this world, he gets the good ofthis world and his Deen. First, a tongue that remains busy in Zikr-e-Allah, secondly, a heartwhich is grateful, and a body which is patient in afflictions, and fourthly a wife who guardsagainst mistrust in her self (chastity) and property of her husband.Hadith No.22ٝ‫ؽ‬ ً‫ٌى‬ ‫يمٛي‬ ْ‫وب‬ ٗٔ‫ا‬ ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ ٝ‫إٌج‬ ٓ‫ع‬ ٕٗ‫ع‬ ‫هللا‬ ٝ‫سظ‬ ‫عّش‬ ٓ‫ث‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫عجذ‬ ٓ‫ع‬‫روش‬ ‫اٌمٍٛة‬ ٌٗ‫صمب‬ ٚ ٌٗ‫صمب‬ ‫ء‬‫يٕمطع‬ ٝ‫ؽز‬ ٗ‫ثغيف‬ ‫يعشة‬ ْ‫ا‬ ‫ٚال‬ ‫لبي‬ ‫هللا‬ ً‫عجي‬ ٝ‫ف‬ ‫اٌغٙبد‬ ‫ٚال‬ ‫لبٌٛا‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫روٍش‬ ِٓ ‫هللا‬ ‫عزاة‬ ِٓ ٝ‫أغ‬ ٝ‫ؽ‬ ِٓ ‫ِب‬ ٚ ‫هللا‬.(‫اٌىجيش‬ ‫اٌذعٛاد‬ ٝ‫ف‬ ٝ‫اٌجيٙم‬ ٖ‫سٚا‬)Translation: Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (radiyallahu anhu) narrated that the Holy Prophetٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ said, “There is a tool for cleaning everything, and the purity of heart is done byZikr-e-Allah. And there is nothing save Zikr-e-Allah which provides deliverance from theTorment." The companions said, "Not even fighting in the way of Allah?" The Holy Prophetٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ said, "Not even if you kill non-believers with your sword till it breaks."Explanation: The first subject dealt in this Hadith Mubarak is purity of heart. When iron isrusted, it is melted in fire to make it clean. When wood is dried and tarnished, we give it lusterby polishing and painting. Similarly, when heart becomes sick, its purity is possible with Zikr-e-Allah. Since the name of Allah is holy and clean, the heart where it settles down alsobecomes pure and clean. As a result this person finds peace of heart and serenity. Someonequite aptly said,"you cannot find peace of heart by the things of this world, or by settling in a housebut peace of heart lies in remembrance of Allah."The second subject is about deliverance from the Torment of Hell. Although every kind ofworship is a source of salvation, and Allah Almighty gives reward on smallest possible gooddeed yet Zikr-e-Allah is the only kind of worship that provides salvation. According to aTradition, the Holy Prophet ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ٍُ‫ع‬ happened to pass by two graves. He observed withhis Noor of prophethood that the people in the graves were being tormented. He took a greenbranch of date-tree and cut it in to two pieces and fixed them on these graves. On being askedby the companions as to why did he do that, the Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ said that so long
  21. 21. wwwwww..iissllaammiirroooohhaanniimmiissssiioonn..oorrgg PPaaggee 22112211as these green branches of date-tree do Zikr, the torment of these dwellers of the graves woulddecrease. In other words, Zikr done by these branches resulted in peace of the two inmates ofgraves.Thirdly, to fight in the way of Allah is Jihad-e-Asghar (smaller Jihad) while avoidingtemptations of Satan and Evil Self is a kind of greater Jihad (Jihad-e-Akbar). Unless thebeliever fights out his internal enemies, he can not be successful in battlefield. Jihad againstevil propensities is all the more important because Satan and Evil self are those enemies thatcan not be spotted with physical eye. Obliviousness on the part of person may cause him lossof faith and pleasure of Allah Almighty.Secondly, jihad against non-believers is time boundand done in sertain specific situations while Jihad against Satan and Evil self is perpetual tillend of ones life. The chief weapon in this Jihad is Zikr-e-Allah.Hadith No. 23ْٚ‫يزوش‬ ‫ال‬ ‫ِغٍظ‬ ِٓ ِْٛٛ‫يم‬ َٛ‫ل‬ ِٓ ‫ِب‬ ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫سعٛي‬ ‫لبي‬ ‫لبي‬ ٕٗ‫ع‬ ٌٝ‫رعب‬ ‫هللا‬ ٝ‫سظ‬ ‫يشح‬ ‫٘ش‬ ٝ‫اث‬ ٓ‫ع‬‫ؽغشح‬ ُٙ‫عٍي‬ ْ‫وب‬ ٚ ‫ؽّبس‬ ‫عيفخ‬ ً‫ِض‬ ٓ‫ع‬ ِٛ‫لب‬ ‫اال‬ ٗ‫في‬ ‫هللا‬.(ٛ‫اث‬ ٚ‫ؽّذ‬ ‫ا‬ ٖ‫سٚا‬‫داؤد‬)Translation: Hazrat Abu Hurariah (radiyallahu anhu) narrated that the Holy Prophet ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ said, "A group of people who leave a company where Allah is not remembered, it is as ifthey have stood on a dead donkey, there is despair unto them."Explanation: Imam Ghazali (may Allah bless his soul) said that one good sitting in thecompany of pious people and Zikr-e-Allah makes up for two hundred thousand bad sittings. 22. 22. wwwwww..iissllaammiirroooohhaanniimmiissssiioonn..oorrgg PPaaggee 22222222Explanation: Although helping poor and the needy and being compassionate to the destituteare great acts of worship yet remembering Allah and His Zikr is even nobler than the former.A least thought of vanity and self praise can spoil these greater acts, and such things likecharity, teaching beneficial knowledge to others and sacrificing ones life in the way of Allahcan come to nothing with change of intention. On the other hand, the one who does Zikr-e-Allah, Allah Almighty gives him purity of heart and sincerity in actions that raise his actionsto the level of acceptance before Almighty Allah. A deed done with sincerity, no matter small, could win the pleasure of Allah and a deed, no matter how big, figures no where before Allahunless done with right intention of pleasure of Allah. Blessed are those whom Allah not onlybestows them worldly riches but also gives them His Zikr. At the end, they meet the needs ofFuqura and take care the rights of people. Everyone thinks that he is still young and agile and life is in front ofhim with full possibilities. He postpones things and even thinks he has much time at hisdisposal to remember Allah. But, he never realizes that the span of life is decreasing like amelting block of an ice; and the health he is so careless about, turns in to an old age with ablink of an eye. Secondly, he looks for free time to remember Allah although he dailydissipates his energies in useless pursuits. When the destined time approaches all the meansand possibilities at his disposal render futile and his register of deeds gets closed. When thisman reaches Allah, he will repent the most about those moments of his life that went pastwithout Zikr-e-Allah. These simple and august gatherings can be source ofsalvation and forgiveness provided we stick ourselves to them solely for the pleasure of Allah. The same subject has been dealt in the Holy Quran:‫هللا‬ ْ‫وب‬ ٚ ‫ؽغٕبد‬ ُٙ‫عيأر‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫يجذي‬ ‫فبٌٚئه‬‫سؽيّب‬ ‫غفٛسا‬."Truly, those are the people whose sins Allah change them in to good deeds. When such personsstart sitting in the company of Sufia, they imbibe their good morals. After a few dayscompany change them completely and they start reflecting good morals of these Aulia Allah.Hazrat Imam Ghazali (may Allah Almighty bless his soul) says in his famous book Aiya-ul-Uloom that if you see some pious man coming in the company of bad people, do not call himpious because this company will soon make him bad. Similarly, if you see some bad personcoming to the company of pious people, do not call him bad because this company will soonmake him good. Sheikh Saadi Sherazi deals the same subject in this verse:"The son of Noah (the prophet) ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ sat in the company of bad peopleand remained deprived of blessings of Noahs prophethood. The Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬said, “these are the people who belong to different tribes and cities and get together in love ofAllah and remain busy in Zikr-e-Allah."Explanation: This Hadith Mubarak gives very important idea that those people who remainbusy in Zikr Allah, Allah Almighty bestows them with such Noor due to that they tread theright path in this world. This Noor will be visible on their faces in the Hereafter. It is not onlytheir inner self that is illuminated by this Noor but wherever they sit, that place also becomesa beaming source of Noor.
  24. 24. wwwwww..iissllaammiirroooohhaanniimmiissssiioonn..oorrgg PPaaggee 22442244Hazrat Abu Hurariah (radiyallahu anhu) said that the Angels see Zikr congregations as brightin heavens as people see luminous moon on this earth.Their real status will be known topeople on the Day of Judgement when they will be sitting on high platforms studded withbeads. Those people who criticize Khanqai (tavern) system will come to understand that thesemen of dust were so dear to Allah. Their identity lies in common symbols, which undermineall the barriers of cast. If you see people from different tribes and regions coming together andremembering Allah, take it granted that these are the people whose inner self is illuminatedwith Noor-e-Illahi. We have seen in religious congregations of our Musheikhs (saints) thatpeople belonging to different tribes and regions travel from far and wide and get together toremember Allah. The sole purpose of these gathering is nothing but to win the pleasure ofAllah, and love of our beloved Holy Prophet Some people have wronglydeduced from this Hadith Sharif that obligatory prayers paying Zakat and Jihad can be analternative to Zikr-e-Allah. They in fact altogether denied the need of these obligatory acts ofworship. This is an abject ignorance and lack of comprehension. In fact, this saying of ourbeloved Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ is a remedy for those people who are unable to performnon-obligatory acts of worship as charity and almsgiving and fear fighting in the way ofAllah. All the diseases take root when Satan gets stuck to the heart. It whispers in the heart aboutpoverty and fear of death. If heart is busy in Zikr Allah, Satan will have no control over it andDivine thoughts will be ingrained in the heart. Thisshows, we should do Zikr to the extent that people call us mad. Whenever a Salik (the Truthseeker) says Allah! Allah! in a loud voice, such people (hypocrites) call him hypocrite. In fact, this very act of theirs is a sign of hypocrisy.Sufia have written that one of the tools of Satan is to put the thought in the heart of people notto do Zikr in front of people lest they should call them hypocrites. By this Satan tries to stopthem from doing Zikr Allah. Although these seven people belong to different categories, the seventh personis the one whom Allah Almighty will provide him exclusive shade because he rememberedAllah and his eyes became wet with tears. What to say of the person who has all the qualitiesor at least some of them. Those young men who come in the company of men of Allah(Saleheen) get soon coloured in their morals, and start ascending the higher plains of piety andmorality. It is said that to repent in youth is the practice of prophets. Blessed are theseyoungmen who repent in their youth and attach themselves to the company of men of Zikr. They come from far and wide and meet each other solely in love of Allah. They do Zikr andMuraqaba individually and collectively. There is a Tradition that Allah Almighty likes twodrops very much, the drop of blood that falls from the body of Mujahid (martyr) and the dropof tear that falls from someones eye out of fear of Allah. When you see them eclipsed, do Zikr-e-Allah."Explanation: In this Hadith Mubarak, the notion that lunar and sun eclipses are caused bysome specific incidents, like the death of someone has been falsified. In the past, it wascustomary belief that these are result of some extraordinary events or deaths of kings andnobles. The Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ said that these are signs of Allah and worldly eventshave nothing to do with their prescribed movements. This Hadith explains the same subject that rememberingAllah much is in fact the centre-piece of mans whole strive in the way of Allah. Zikr Allah isa supreme act of worship as far as reward is concerned because it is perpetual obligation whileother acts of worships are time or space bound. They are made obligatory in certain specialsituations, but Zikr is free from these spatial restrictions. He asked, "How did you pass through it?" The questioner repliedby taking care of body and clothes lest it should be hurt. Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas(radiyallahu anhu) said Taqwa means that you leave this world in a state where your outer andinner self is free from sins. When Hazrat Maudh bin Jabal (radiyallahu anhu) asked the Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬to advise him, the Holy Prophet ٍُ‫ع‬ ٚ ٗ‫عٍي‬ ‫هللا‬ ٍٝ‫ص‬ said to him to fear Allah as much as he could, and remember Him near every stone and tree because these things will stand witness on TheDay of Judgment.
