What is Embryo? <ul><li>Embryo is the platform for interaction between BITS Pilani alumni, students and faculty. </li></ul><ul><li>Embryo enables flow of knowledge and experience from BITS Pilani alumni to faculty and students by using a threefold approach: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Complement BITS Coursework through video lecture series </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Facilitate collaborative research projects between alumni and BITS </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Expose students to current research trends and provide guidance for pursuing research projects </li></ul></ul>

Why Embryo? <ul><li>200 BITS Pilani alumni in academia. 15,000 alumni have graduate degrees and work in technology or other industries around the world. </li></ul><ul><li>Rich pool of knowledge that can be tapped into to augment the quality of research and academic experience at BITS Pilani. </li></ul><ul><li>Geographical barriers make physical visits to Pilani difficult </li></ul><ul><li>Embryo removes this distance barrier by leveraging the Internet and video conferencing technologies so as to enable alumni anywhere in the world to deliver online lectures to students at BITS Pilani. </li></ul>

Where we want to be? <ul><li>Continuing lecture series on latest research topics in the world. </li></ul><ul><li>Latest courses being offered at BITS Pilani </li></ul><ul><li>More research activity among the faculty and students </li></ul><ul><li>Research Projects being conducted in collaboration with Alumni (Academic or Industry) </li></ul><ul><li>More PS stations (E.g. Cypress) </li></ul><ul><li>More students getting admitted to better Engineering and Business Schools </li></ul><ul><li>More entrepreneurial activity through Technology Business Incubator (TBI) center at BITS Pilani </li></ul><ul><li>Embryo expanding to other campuses (Goa, Dubai) </li></ul><ul><li>Most Important : You guys should contribute ideas on what we can do </li></ul>

Value Proposition for Students and Faculty <ul><li>Students get exposure to current cutting edge research areas and industry trends. </li></ul><ul><li>Students get career advice from seniors out in the real world. </li></ul><ul><li>Faculty gets opportunity to collaborate with alumni in academia and industry. </li></ul>

    7. 44. Major recommendations/goals for 2007 include: 1) Smooth operations with extremely high quality lectures 2) Integrating Embryo lectures as a part of the Pilani coursework. 3) Scale it to Goa campus.
