DearFriends: 2011 is ending , all the staff of When the Center for Entrepreneurship Development at the Universidad Icesi presents you a very warm Christmas greeting , wishes you and your organization a successful 2012 and shares with you some of the main achievements obtained by the Center in 2011
  2. 2. -Successful completion of the XXI Latin AmericanCongress on Entrepreneurship in Cali. -Publication of the three volumes of the Collection "Desarrollo, Innovación y Cultura Empresarial(DICE)", which are available at: http://bibliotecadigital.icesi.edu.co-Coordination and general orientation of theGEM Caribbean s research team , covering :Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados. It isexpected that in 2012 we will integrate :Haiti, Guyana, Surinam, St.Vincent, Antigua, and St. Lucia.
  3. 3. -Participation in the research GEM Colombia2011 and publication of Colombia 2010 GEMReport.-Integration to the Ibero-AmericanNetwork of SME s.-Design of the foundations of anentrepreneurial development publicpolicy for the Valle del Cauca .-OffiHotel, a company founded by a formerIcesi s student (Juan Carlos Galvez) wonthe first prize as the most innovative SMEin the services sector in our state.
  4. 4. -Summer Camp "Vive tu reto empresarial a lavelocidad del tren" with a total of 28participants.-Participation in the Directive Board smeetings of: International Council for SmallBusiness ICSB, World Association for Smalland Medium Size Enterprises-Business Development Program for(WUSME), Fundaempresa.Coomeva Foundation s entrepreneurialstaff(16 members).-Week of the” Young Entrepreneur ofCali”, with a total of 48 participants.
  5. 5. -Entrepreneurship Seminar for Universitystudents with an attendance of 36 students.-48 groups of regular undergraduate courseswith a total of 1084 students.-1 group of postgraduate courseswith a total of 33 students.-Active participation in the RegionalNetwork of Entrepreneurship.-Implementation of four "CompetenciasEmpresariales" on the issues: BakeryProducts, Products and / or services forsoccer fans, Disability, Luxury markets.
  6. 6. -Development of the program "Promotion ofProvincial Productive Enterprise" for 26Ecuadorian provincial planning officials.s-Several visiting professors and NGOdirectives from Latin and North America andEurope were visiting us to know about ourdevelopments.-The Business Fair “ExpoIcesi” had 41business stands.-Design and execution of two seminars on"Outdoor Training" for students of BusinessAdministration.

  8. 8. -Support for operation of theentrepreneur alumni Network (REDE).-Development of the seminar "NewTrends in Entrepreneurial Education."-Active presence atmeetings, conferences, seminars, coursesin : Africa and Puerto Montt(Chile), Guayaquil and Salinas(Ecuador), Stockholm (Sweden) , Cairo(Egypt), Lima (Peru), Washington andMichigan (USA), Bridgetown(Barbados), Kingston(Jamaica), Bogota, Yopal, Florence, Cartagena and Barranquilla (Colombia).

  12. 12. -The Propyme Department conducted thefollowing activities:*Diploma in Export Management the Bakerynetwork, with 28 participating companies.* Development and completion of theproject "Business Networking for Export" inthe areas of: Auto Parts, EggIndustry, Tourism and Metallurgicalindustry, in cooperation withPROEXPORT, with total of 37 participatingcompanies.
  13. 13. *Development and completion of theAgribusiness sector program in cooperationwith PROEXPORT with 13 participatingcompanies.*Completion of the 1st version, with 20participating companies and the start of the2nd version of the program “Vida, Mundo yEmpresa”* Consulting services to nine SME s.
  14. 14. -The Alaya Center conducted thefollowing activities:*Programs in Cali and Bogota to promotethe operation and funding of the AlayaCenters with the cooperation of officials ofthe SBDC at the Universityentrepreneurs in* Advice to more than 150 of Texas at SanAntonio. and 60 in business improvement.start-ups*Training to 43 entrepreneurs in theprogram "Management Development formicro and small companies"; and morethan 30 entrepreneurs in the program“Business Plan”, both of them in associationwith Bancoldex.
  15. 15. *Advice and support services to121, emerging and establishedentrepreneurs, through their own programsthe programs in agreement with “Bancoldex”.*Participation of 21 companies in the specialprograms of: Media Strategy andAdvertising Campaigns, CorporateIdentity, Strategic Analysis and Accounting*Business training for 2200 micro, smallin Colombianentrepreneurs inand medium environment.Buga, Buenaventura, Cali, Cartago, Palmira, Pasto, Popayan, Tulua and Tumaco in theframework of “Bancoldex” program “aProgresar “.
  16. 16. *Program "Acompañamiento aestudiantes" with a total of 67 students.*Carlos Ramirez with his project Bio360and Rodolfo Hidalgo with his project onrenewable fuels , were finalist in the 2011Ventures, thanks to support from the Alayacenter.*Obtaining the quality certification for theconsultancy services that Alaya Centerprovides
  17. 17. -The Start Up Coffee developed thefollowing programs:*Support for students and entrepreneurs invarious contests and calls, with thefollowing results: 3 finalists and 1 winner inVentures 2011, a finalist in TIC sAmericas, a finalist in the second round ofinvestment “Descubra Futuro”, 1 selectedin the “Colciencias” 523 financing round , 1* Advisory services, consulting andfinalist Banco Santander, 5 projectsmentoring to the “Fondo Emprender” .submitted in the for a total of 25 dynamicentrepreneurs supported.
  18. 18. *Four (4) sessions of "Tomando cafe con....", 2 events "More Profitability", 2accompanying processes of micro-creditfinancing, Three angel investorsapproached our entrepreneurs and there isa very good opportunity for one of them,.*Professor Andrés Felipe Otero, with hiscompany Fair Services received financialsupport from the national contest“Descubra Futuro” . This will be the firstspin-off process at the University Center.
