Atlas Technologies’ Cyclone Blank and Coil Washers clean sheet metal for stamping or blanking operations. The Cyclone is modularly constructed with three to four pair of rolls (6-8 total). The center rolls provide the cleaning while the exit rolls control the residual film thickness. Water or oil based solutions may be utilized.

Sheet Metal Washer - Atlas Technologies

  1. 1. The Atlas Cyclone Blank Washing Cell
  2. 2. System Overview:Atlas Technologies Cyclone™ Wash Cell allows our customers to make the most of their investment by servicingblanks from multiple press lines, thereby reducing the amount of equipment required within their facility andeliminating downtime of that equipment. Because the wash line is independent of the presses, blanks may beprocessed continuously, at the maximum speed of the washer. Atlas will work with the robot manufacturer ofyour choice and integrate the controls for a complete solution. System Components: • Atlas Cyclone™ Washer • Robotic Blank Destacking System • Robotic Blank Stacking System • Vacuum Cup Boom Tooling • System Guarding • Atlas Command Center™ Integrated Controls Package Page 2

  4. 4. System ComponentsThe Atlas Cyclone™ WasherCleans sheet metal for stamping or blanking operations. The washer is modularly constructed with three to fourpair of rolls (6 – 8 total). The center brush rolls provide the cleaning while the exit rolls control the residual filmthickness. Water or oil based solutions may be utilized. Features and Benefits: • Closed loop fluid system • Best practice bearing construction • Precise roll alignment • Galvanized spray manifolds slide out of the end for ease of maintenance and nozzle replacement • Automatic lock outs hold the exit rolls up when the washer is shut off to prevent roll damage • Integral fluid tank is located under the washer, the pump and filter are external for ease of maintenance • Optimum cleaning without marring the surface finishes • Precise coating application Page 4

  6. 6. System ComponentsRobotic Blank Destacking SystemPalletized blanks loaded onto one ofthe two destack tables via overheadcrane or fork truck shall be positionedby the operator with the aid of a rigidbackstop. The operator will then manually alignthe fanner magnets against the newstack to begin fanning and separatingthe blanks during the destackingoperation. The customer specified robot, equipped with a vacuum cup arm willthen remove a single blank from thestack and place the blank onto thebelt style feed conveyor. The feed conveyor will then advancethe blank into the Atlas Cyclone™washer for the cleaning operations. Page 6
  7. 7. Robotic Blank Stacking SystemBlanks exit the Atlas Cyclone Washer on the stackstation conveyor where they are placed in stacks tothe customers specifications. The customer specified stack station robot will pick upthe blank and place it onto a steel pallet on one ofthe two stack tables. As the controlled stack reachesa preprogrammed height, the robot will automaticallyswitch to stacking in the second stack table. An operator will remove the completed stack via forktruck or overhead crane and preposition an emptypallet in its place for continuous stacking operations. The blanks will be stacked centerline common, frontto back and left to right. Page 7
  8. 8. Wash RollsAtlas blank washers are modularly constructed withthree to four pair of rolls (6-8 total). The center rollsprovide the cleaning , while the exit rolls control theresidual film thickness. The non-textile fiber rollsallow for optimum cleaning without marring surfacefinishes and provide precise coating application ofthe lubrication fluidPressure to clean and dry the blank is provided bymulti-stage pneumatic cylinders. The entry andwash rolls are typically set to fixed pressures. Theexit roll is programmable to achieve the correct PLI(pounds per linear inch) and is based on part widthaccording to the recipe. The center wash roll havespray nozzles to spray wash the blank before andafter the wash roll. The center rolls are a powered counter rotatingbrush style, for extremely dirty situations. The brushrolls are driven with a VFD and adjust with the linespeed. As the rolls open and close, integrated roll latchesautomatically engage and disengage respectivelyto support the rolls and prevent damage. The rollsincorporate heavy duty bearings in a unique designto allow for linear expansion and end removal. Page 8
  9. 9. Fluid Circulating & Filtration SystemThe wash fluid is delivered to the spray nozzles by a circulation andfiltration system. The fluid is then gravity returned to a reservoirwhich contains heating elements to maintain fluid temperature. The wash fluid may be either water or oil based solutions.A duplex filter system filters washer fluid before spraying fluid on therolls and parts. Fluid pressure sensors monitor fluid pressure. If thefilter outlet fluid pressure raises 15-20 PSI above the inlet pressureacross the filter, the system will generate a fault indicating that thefilter is dirtyTechnical Data:Circulating tank capacity 300 gallonsType of circulating pump Cast iron centrifugalFilter type/size Duplex/10 – 25 micronSpray pressure range 10 – 25 PSIWash fluid heater setting 100ª FReservoir material SteelThe tank is fabricated from mild steel and is mounted to the framebelow the washer. All seams are continuously welded and leakchecked. Page 9
  10. 10. Mist Collection System The mist collection system is mounted adjacent to the washer and pulls evacuated mist, from the top plenum of the washer. Collected fluid is returned to the solution reservoir. Page 10
  11. 11. Atlas Command CenterControls IntegrationOne of the many benefit ofAtlas Technologies as yoursystems integrator is ourcontrol systems expertise. Our staff of highly qualifiedengineers are intimatelyfamiliar with, and highlytrained in virtually every typeof automation equipmentand controls platform. Ourengineers will provideseamless communicationbetween all equipment in thescope of work. The system will be operable from one state of the art control center, with feedback and diagnostic information at the finger tips of the operator. We back this up with our 24-7-365 service for complete peace of mind. Page 11
