Explain common and proper nouns.2. Read the text on the Olympic Games.3. Get pupils to identify the common and proper nouns in the text4. In groups, get pupils to play a word-chain game. Instructions for the game are: 1. Write a noun on the board. e.g. book 2. Pupils will take turns to join the chain by writing another noun, starting with the last letter in the previous word. e.g. book-kite 3. The next person will continue joining the ‘word-chain’. e.g. book-kite-egg 4. Those who are unable to join the next word will be out of the game.5. Pupils complete a task sheet on common and proper nouns.
