1. QUESTION 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt in the progression from
it to the full product?
PRELIMINARY TASK MAGAZINE FRONT REAL TASK MAGAZINE FRONT COVER
COVER
I feel my skills when using Photo Shop and InDesign have improved
considerably from when I first used it to create my front cover. Looking at the
difference it is clearly evident that I have got more used to the tools and the
software.
I have also learnt that there is more colour and brightness needed on the page
to attract the reader. Another major part was learning about the main
components needed on a magazine, it was easier to make the real task
magazine front cover because I was used to what was needed in a real life
magazine and what you would expect so to see on one for example; a range of
cover and sell lines, price of magazine and barcode. I feel that compared to the
preliminary task use of Photo Shop has improved and my front cover now
looks professional and could be seen in shops to be bought by paying
customers.
2. PRILIMINARY TASK CONTENTS PAGE REAL TASK MAGAZINE CONTENTS PAGE
I used InDesign to create both of my contents pages because both are heavily
led by writing with few pictures.
Compared to my preliminary task contents page my magazine looks extremely
professional and fits the typical conventions of music magazine contents page,
with the page numbers bigger than the writing, a main feature/photo with a
small paragraph explaining who it is underneath. Whereas on my preliminary
task contents there are pictures that I haven’t been edited and just added on
to the page without care and consideration. My masthead also is the same font
as my title on the front cover to create a consistent house style and theme
throughout the magazine.
I did not produce a double page spread for my preliminary task but I created mine for my
real magazine using InDesign.
This is my real double page spread
that I created using InDesign. I feel
this is professional and the images
are exciting.
