    • Originally adopted in November 1988.
    • Updated and adopted the Long-Range Plan for Technology, 1996-2010 (LRPT)
    • Final plan approved in November 2006 after NCLB revisions and alignment, changes in technology as well as education.
    • “ The Long-Range Plan for Technology , 2006-2020, is a comprehensive plan with one goal I mind- a first rate, world class education for every student in the state of Texas” (Miller, 2006, p. iv).
  • 4. Technology Long Range Plan (2006-2020)
    • Built upon four key areas:
    • Teaching & Learning
    • Educator Preparation & Development
    • Leadership, Administration & Instructional Support
    • Infrastructure for Support
  • 5. Technology Application Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (PreK-12)
    • Pre-K standards outline what 3-4 year old students should know and be able to do using technology
    • K-2 nd grade standards outline the basic skills students should acquire
    • 3 rd - 5 th grade standards outline techniques and skills students should demonstrate
    • 6 th -8 th grade standards outline skills, techniques, and applications student should be fluent in
    • Students are expected to be technology literate by the end of 8 th grade.
    • All TEKS address the Foundations, Information Acquisition, Problem Solving and Communication with technology.

  • 6. Technology Application Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (9 th -12 th )
    • 9 th -12 th grade students have a variety of options from the adopted courses which allow for growth, specialization, integration into other curriculum areas, and preparation for the technological world.

    • Multimedia Video Technology*
    • Web Mastering
    • Independent Study in Technology Applications*

    • CHHS is well on its way to reaching Target Tech status by 2020, if not sooner.
    • The next faculty meeting will provide further information about the LRPT and TA TEKS.
    • In next week PLC meeting we should discuss what we can do as teachers to progress further towards our goals.
