    1st period – 7th grade English
    2nd period – 7th grade Pre-AP English
    3rd period – 7th Pre-AP English
    4th period – 7th grade English
    5th period – 7th grade Pre-AP English
    6th period – 7th grade English
    7th period – Advisory
    8th period - conference
  • 3. School Supplies
    Required Supplies:
    • 100-sheet composition book
    • 4. Two-pocket folder (any color)
    • 5. Notebook paper
    • 6. Blue/Black Pen or Pencil
    *Kleenex donations will be greatly appreciated.
  • 7. Homework
    • Homework will be assigned as needed to complete class work. Class work may include daily activities and/or major assignments.
  • Briscoe Tardy Policy
    First Tardy: Verbal Warning to Student
    Second Tardy: Verbal Warning to Student
    Phone Call to Parent/Guardian
    Third Tardy: Office Referral
  • 8. Grading Policy
    The NISD English Department grading policy:
    • 60% Summative assessments
    • 9. major papers, tests, projects, assessments that assess mastery
    • 10. 40% Formative assessments
    • 11. benchmarks, homework, assignments that assess progress
  • Make-Up Work
    • It is the student’s responsibility to ask for and complete make-up work when absent.
    • 12. Make-up work must be completed in a timely manner (within one day for each day absent).
    • 13. Consideration will be taken in cases of extended absences.
    • 14. Students will be given a minimum of 2 days for every day absent to complete make-up assignments.
    • 15. This holds true for both excused and unexcused absences.
  • Late Work
    • Formative assessments can be turned in/corrected within a reasonable time frame for a maximum grade of 75%.
    • 16. Summative assessments can be turned in/corrected for full credit.
    • 17. It is the student’s responsibility to turn in late assignments.
