  1. By Asams V.K
  2. Foursquare is a location-based social networking website for mobile devices, such as smartphones. Created in 2009 by Dennis Crowley and Naveen Selvadurai Features 1) Mayorship 2) Badges 3) Scoring 4) Superuser status 5) Brands 6) Specials
  3. Mayorship If a user has checked into a venue on more days than anyone else in the past 60 days, and the check-ins are valid under foursquare's time they will be crowned mayor. The user must have a profile picture in order to be crowned "Mayor" of that venue. Badges Badges are earned by checking into various venues. Some badges can only be earned in a specific city. Foursquare has, however, changed the way they handle badges, and now when a user gains a badge, he or she has the same badges across all cities. Once a badge is earned by a user, it will remain on that user's profile indefinitely.
  4. Scoring Each time the user checks into a place, he or she receives points. There are more than 100 reasons Foursquare awards points. Some of the most commonly awarded ones are below: •Checking in to a new place – 3 points •Becoming the Mayor of a venue – 5 points •Checking in when already the Mayor – 3 points Superuser status The service provides three levels of "Superuser status" (which is not to be confused with the "Super User" badge). Superuser status is conferred on users who have been selected by foursquare staff for their helpful contributions to the community.
  5. 1) Creating Deals to drive traffic With over 15 million users, people often search for nearby businesses that have great new deals to check out Communicate offer special discounts when someone checks in at your location Be creative with your special deals and entice new customers to see what your business is all about Examples Check in and receive burger and beer for only RS 150. Receive a free tax consultation when you check in.
  6. 2)How to use deals to create loyal customers? Foursquare deals can be used to create a virtual customer loyalty program. This opportunity to reward those that visit your business often by creating a reward based program that gives a special deal after a check in goal is reached Some great foursquare loyalty examples are: Free Starbucks coffee on your 10th check in Check in 3 times in 10 days and receive a special gift
  7. 3) Easily understanding customers demographic Anyone running a business knows that having more data about your customers is always going to help Mostly for SME, they don’t need spend money for research. Foursquare will provide data's based on customer check ins Present it in a easy and digest manner. Check in data available: 1)Where check ins are shared (Twitter and Facebook) 2)Gender of customers 3)Customers ages 4)Times and frequencies
