  • The buyer utility maps outline all the utility levers Cos can pull to deliver exceptional utility to their customers, including all the experiences buyers will have with your product or service over various phases of its use.The six stages of the Buyer experience cycle are mentioned ,which run more or less sequentially –at every stage of the buyer experience cycle you can ask questions to guage the quality of a buyer’s experience.
The utility levers on the other hand are ways in which Cos can unlock exceptional value for their customers as well as identify utility blocks for non customers – si it gives them a sense on where these blocks are and what utility block will be cleared by offering what benefit .
If the Cos offering also falls on the same slot on the map that is occupied by the rivals, chances are it is no longer a blue ocean offering !The most commonly used lever is customer productivity in the use phase – things which make you do more for less or faster than before !
  • While Imode’s mobile plus internet was a run away success ,Europe’s much famed WAP didn’t really cut much ice because it was difficult to use –protoganists of WAP revelled more in the bells and whistles of the technology rather than buyer utility.
Having developed a startegy curve that is focussed, divergent and has a compelling tag line, this tool is used to assess where and how the new service will change life for its buyers !!

    • 3. www.aryaomnitalk.com  Monitor driving habits and discover improvement in fuel efficiency  Average value of fuel consumed in a month is approx. Rs 90,000.  Speed in excess of 10 kms per hour over an average speed level of 50 kms /hour causes fuel efficiency to drop by 8 %.  The Trucking Co can incentivize the truck driver by sharing half of the savings with him .  Savings can be achieved by estimating the proportion of driving time where the truck traveled at a speed >60 kms per hour & sharing the information with the driver for him to maintain desired average speed.  Overall if 10% of the time the truck was driven at a speed in excess of 60 kms /hour, no of such kms based on 8,000 km travel per month will be 960 kms where instead of 240 liters , 259 liters of diesel shall be used i.e. an extra 19 liters of diesel /truck per month .  Co should thus be saving Rs. 855 per month for 19 liters per truck per month by virtue of reducing diesel consumption ,which can be shared 50 :50 with the truck driver to create a win-win model www.aryaomnitalk.com

    • 5. www.aryaomnitalk.com  Stop fuel pilferage Possible sources of investment payback for a GPS Vehicle Tracking unit : www.aryaomnitalk.com  If the concern is fuel pilferage a fuel sensor attached to the GPS Vehicle Tracking unit alerts in case of a sudden fuel drop, with a rough estimate of what has been pilfered & where.  Extent of pilferage in a monthly consumption of 2000 liters of diesel (10,000 kms monthly travel with an average fuel efficiency of 4 kms per liter can easily be between 1-2 % ,saving the Co 20-40 liters of diesel per month .  A savings potential of Rs. 900 –Rs. 1,800 per truck per month .

    • 8. www.aryaomnitalk.com  Save in telephone expenses for ‘where are you?’ queries Save on telephone bills!!! If 2 phone calls from the Co. and 1 from the driver everyday are made to the transport control room. This will end up saving Rs. 200 per truck per month on telephone bills www.aryaomnitalk.com
    • 9. www.aryaomnitalk.com  An average trip is 2000 kms ,costing the end customer Rs. 30,000 –Rs. 35,000 Even if the customer pays 1% extra per trip and only 2 of the 4 trips made in the month are for such customers ,the trucking Co gets an extra revenue of Rs. 600-700 /truck/p.m.  Higher charge per trip from the end customer Possible sources of investment payback for a GPS Vehicle Tracking unit : www.aryaomnitalk.com
