History <ul><li>The region around Kazanlak has been inhabited for thousands of years, with traces of civilization going as far back as the 2000 BC . </li></ul><ul><li>I n the 4th century BC, the Thracian Tomb was built.. </li></ul><ul><li>The current city of Kazanlak was founded in the 1300s </li></ul>
  3. 3. Welcome to Kazanlak <ul><li>A long time ago the region of Kazanlak was inhabit by the thracian trieves. </li></ul><ul><li>There were a lot of battles for a liberty </li></ul><ul><li>Many people died for this beauty </li></ul>
  4. 4. The town <ul><li>Kazanlak is located in the heart of Bulgaria. </li></ul><ul><li>Between Stara Planina and Sredna Gora mountains </li></ul><ul><li>The region is famous with many archeological monuments. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>The rose has an important role in the history of the Kazanlak region. </li></ul>Kazanlak is known as the Roses Valley
  6. 6. Every year the rose festival celebrates here <ul><li>The most beautiful girl is chosen to be Queen. </li></ul><ul><li>She takes care for the roses </li></ul><ul><li>And she always smiles </li></ul>
  7. 7. The festival programme includes : <ul><li>The coronation of the Queen Rose </li></ul><ul><li>The traditional rose-picking ritual </li></ul><ul><li>And rose-distillation </li></ul>
  8. 8. Kazanlak is also famous with it’s thracian tombs <ul><li>One of the most popular is The Thracian Tomb in Kazanlak </li></ul><ul><li>Every year tourist from Bulgaria and abroad come to visit it </li></ul>

Thracian Tomb in Kazanlak-inside <ul><li>Discovered in 1944, this tomb dates from the Hellenistic period, around the end of the 4th century B.C. </li></ul><ul><li>It is part of a large Thracian necropolis. </li></ul><ul><li>It contains, painted murals representing a Thracian couple at a ritual funeral feast. </li></ul>
