Forces and Balance
What is a force?
It is a push or pull
There are 4 major types of unseen forces:
1. Gravity
Gravity on
Earth = 9.8 m/s2
2. Magnetic
3. Weak Nuclear
4. Strong Nuclear
There are 6 contact forces:
1. Friction
2. Tension
3. Normal
4. Air Resistance
5. Applied
6. Spring
All forces are either:
1. Balanced: Not moving
2. Unbalanced: Moving
Name the forces!
Newton’s 2nd Law
Acceleration of an object is in the same direction as the net force on an object.
F = MA
Newton’s 3rd Law
For every action force there is an equal and opposite reaction force.
