Lemonjuices anti-inflammatory qualities soothesore throats and irritated membranes; italso has an antiseptic action that helpsdirectly fight off the cold virus. Gingerhelps stimulate perspiration, whichcleanses the system and brings down thebody temperature. Like lemon, ginger alsohas antiseptic and anti-inflammatoryproperties. Ginger also acts as a coughsuppressant.LEMONSFOR FIGHTINGCOLDSLemon Ginger TeaAs pretty as the name sounds, this is actually a bittersweet tea thatgoes down mighty spicy as it soothes a sore throat and breaks upmucus along the way. It’s a classic home remedy I prefer overstore-brought cold medicines. The astringent lemon juice helpsreduce mucus, the honey soothes a sore throat and the spiciness ofthe ginger acts as a decongestant. Easily increase the ingredients tomake a larger pot of tea when everyone in your household is notfeeling well or to store the excess in the refrigerator and reheat asneeded.
