1 hr. Interviewed my Grandfather on the
story of Flip and the Flying Squirrel.
Commentary:
From what I have heard so far this
could be a fun story and I have been
given creative freedom, but I will try to
stick to the story as much as possible.
12-4-11 Activity:
1 hr. Looked through pictures of Flip and
the setting of the story.
Commentary:
It was so exciting to look through all of
these old photos and I think that I
really got a feel for how the story went
now having seen the pictures of where
it took place.
1-7-12 Activity:
1 hr. 52 min. Story boarding for the book.
Commentary:
This is going to be difficult. Starting is
always the hardest part for me and I’m
not sure whether to start with words or
illustrations.
2. 2-7-12 Activity:
30 min. Working on illustrations and story
boarding.
Commentary:
I have decided to start the story
boarding with illustrations. I think this
will be the easiest route for me since I
can picture the story in my mind, but
I’m still having some trouble with the
words.
2-8-12 Activity:
1 hr. 16 min. Working on illustrations and story
boarding.
Commentary:
Story boarding is really tough
especially when I change the picture or
the order in which events happen. I
hope that I will be done with this soon.
2-10-12 Activity:
1 hr. 30 min. Working on illustrations and story
boarding.
Commentary:
I’m close to finishing and all I need is
an ending and the text to go with the
pictures. But now that I know where
I’m starting I think I can end it with
ease.
2-22-12 Activity:
6 hr. 15 min. Finish story boarding and adding text.
Commentary:
I have finally finished the long process
of story boarding and I am happy with
what my illustration order will be.
Now, I have begun to add words to my
illustrations. I like what I have so far.
3-2-12 Activity:
30 min. Start final draft of illustrations.
3. Commentary:
I have finished the words and will now
be working on the final illustrations
that will appear in the book. This will
be one of the longest processes that I
have because I have to keep everything
straight make it look as nice as
possible.
3-4-12 Activity:
6 hr. Work on final draft of illustrations.
Commentary:
So far my illustrations look great, but I
have had to start over a few times. This
all to make the book look good and
make sense so if I have to start over
one hundred times I will.
3-5-12 Activity:
1 hr. 5 min. Work on final draft of illustrations.
Commentary:
I have almost finished the illustration
and I am quite happy with them.
3-6-12 Activity:
2 hr. 11 min. Finish final illustrations and start
inking.
Commentary:
I have finished the illustrations and
have started going over them with ink
so that they will show up on screen
after they are scanned.
3-7-12 Activity:
1 hr. 23 min. Finish inking
Commentary:
All of the illustrations have been inked
and are now ready to be scanned.
3-9-12 Activity:
1 hr. 35 min. Scan and start coloring.
4. Commentary:
Scanning was the easy part of this
stage. Now comes the most meticulous
process that I have ever had to go
through. Luckily, I have acquired an
art tablet that will help me to add color
to my illustrations.
3-10-12 Activity:
3 hr. 24 min. Continue coloring.
Commentary:
This is going to take forever and it is
extremely hard to keep a straight line
across the page. I have had to set aside
a picture already because it is just too
frustrating.
3-11-12 Activity:
11 hr. 30 min. Continue coloring
Commentary:
I got five pages done today and they all
look great. There are twelve pages not
including the title and dedication
pages. I’m so close to having it
completely colored.
3-12-12 Activity:
3 hr. 2 min. Continue coloring
Commentary:
Just finished page 11 and have started
page twelve. I’m saving page 1 for last
since it has the most detail and I have
had to redo it once already.
3-13-12 Activity:
5 hr. 10 min. Continue coloring.
Commentary:
I have now come to page 1. It is not the
last page that I need to do’ but I need
to stop avoiding it and just get it done.
