  • 2. What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)? Search Engine Optimization is the process of improving the visibility of a website on organic (“natural” or un-paid) search engine result pages (SERPs), by incorporating search engine friendly elements into a website. A successful search engine optimization campaign will have, as part of the improvements, carefully select, relevant, keywords which the on-page optimization will be designed to make prominent for search engine algorithms. Search engine optimization is broken down into two basic areas: on-page, and off-page optimization. Onpage optimization refers to website elements which comprise a web page, such as HTML code, textual content, and images. Off-page optimization refers, predominantly, to backlinks (links pointing to the site which is being optimized, from other relevant websites). Search engine optimization (SEO) affects the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s “natural” or un-paid (“organic”) search results. In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search, academic search, news search and industry-specific vertical search engines. As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience. Optimizing a website may involve editing its content, HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Promoting a site to increase the number of backlinks, or inbound links, is another SEO tactic. The plural of the abbreviation SEO can also refer to “search engine optimizers,” those who provide SEO services. View more @ http://arieldtorres.com/ | Search Engine Optimization Tips & Techniques 2

  • 4. Black hat SEO is the use of techniques that are unacceptable to search engines to boost a page’s position in search results. These techniques are intended to trick search engines into giving pages higher positions in search results, and they have no benefit to site visitors. The goal is to improve search engine result positions no matter what it takes to do it. Black hat SEO techniques are used for two reasons:  They work — until search engines find out about them and they don’t work.  Some people don’t understand that black hat SEO techniques can get their sites penalized by or banned from search engines. Even if search engines can’t detect the black hat SEO techniques, competitors of sites that employ black hat SEO techniques can spot them and do report them to search engines. Common Black Hat SEO Techniques  Keyword stuffing  Overusing keywords in comment tags, alt tags, and meta tags  Placing keywords in hidden text (hidden from people, that is) by making their font color the same color as the page background  Overusing keywords in visible text, to the point where their repetition is apparent to readers  Doorway or gateway pages: pages that are stuffed with keywords but that only search engines see because people are redirected to the page with the real content  Cloaking: displaying different content to search engines than to people by identifying visitors via IP or via other methods  Link farms: pages with unrelated links solely for the purpose of creating more links to target pages  Spamming forums, blogs, and other social media sites with links (search engines might not penalize sites for this, but it’s considered unethical) View more @ http://arieldtorres.com/ | Search Engine Optimization Tips & Techniques 4
  • 5. White Hat SEO White hat SEO is ethical SEO. It’s SEO techniques that search engines accept. White hat SEO techniques are beneficial for site visitors as well as for search engines. The goal of white hat SEO is to improve search engine result positions via methods that won’t cause search engines to penalize the site. Successful white hat SEO is slower than black hat SEO and is an ongoing process. Common White Hat SEO Techniques  Researching relevant keywords, both short ail and long tail keywords  Including keywords naturally in page titles, headings, link anchor text, other page content, and alt tags  Studying analytics reports and fine-tuning the content to further optimize it for targeted keywords and to help direct traffic to relevant pages  Adding fresh content regularly  Using correct HTML markup (for example, heading tags) so that search engines can identify headings and other types of  content correctly  Making sure that all the code is valid (or at least won’t stop search engine bots)  Creating site maps so that every page is linked to and search engine bots can crawl every page  Using CSS to separate content from markup and thus increase keyword density by having less markup to crawl  Creating quality content that other people will want to link to  Asking to have directories and other relevant websites link to the site  Optimizing pages for social media in the hopes of attracting social media links  Arranging for link exchanges with relevant sites (considered by some to be gray hat SEO) View more @ http://arieldtorres.com/ | Search Engine Optimization Tips & Techniques 5

Here are some tips to increase the search traffic of your WordPress website Change the Permalink Structure This includes the use of texts rather than just the post number. The default permalink structure for WordPress blog posts is http://www.yourblogname.com/?p=123. In the Settings section of your WordPress dashboard, click on Permalinks then select “Custom Structure” rather than the default permalink structure and enter “/%category%/%postname%/” to change the permalink structure to include the name of the category the post is in as well as the post title. If you prefer, you can simply enter “/%postname%/” to include only the post title in the permalink. Showing the category and post name in your blog post URLs tells search engines a lot more about the content of your post than a number does. • 7. Customize Image Titles and Alt-Tags WordPress makes it extremely easy to customize your image titles and alt-tags. When you upload an image to your WordPress account, you have a chance to customize both. Therefore, it’s in your best interest to make sure your blog always loads quickly. Not only should you delete any elements that are slowing down page load time, but you should also use a WordPress plugin like WP Super Cache to increase the speed of your WordPress blog page load. Link to Related Posts A useful list of related posts published at the end of each of your blog posts is not only a great way to keep people on your blog longer by leading them directly to relevant content, but it can also boost search traffic to your blog. That’s because a list of related posts helps communicate the content of the post to search engines, and it helps search engines easily find your older content. • 8. Note: This is a simple SEO tip but still, you need to research and work a little for implementing this tip. Why Content is a King?  Users only want to learn new things.  Users only want useful contents.  Users want to learn very quick.  Users will share it if they are impressed. That’s why new, useful, quality contents are always KING How Google finds a quality content?  Google’s Crawler is becoming intelligent day by day, So it can read and find it useful or not as we can. This is only a basic evaluation.  The majority of the quality finding is done by checking how many links pointing towards that particular page (Internal/External).  For external links, Google checks whether that site is good or bad. Depending on this, your site may be awarded or ignored or even penalized.  Now you got the idea behind the ranking for your site.  Since this technique is hard to spam/fake, Google gives more priority apart from other ranking factors.  Now you may think “Then how to implement this technique?”  First of all analyze and research for keywords which more than 1000 users search for per month. You can use Google AdWords Keyword Tool, Google Trends, or even a survey.  Then include those keyords in future blog posts (no keyword stuffing). • 9.  Now link those keywords to other relevant blog posts of your site for which you wish to rank high in Google. Evergreen contents are most Shared!  Write evergreen contents and link other evergreen contents of your blog using the keywords. 1. Writing evergreen contents has two benefits: 2. Lot of backlinks will get in the long run (Natural Backlinks which Google Loves)  Participate in forums that are related to your niche, and in social networks But DO NOT SPAM with links of your site, that may get penalized by Google & those forums too, instead share knowledge with those, befriend and build a community there who loves you for the contribution you had done.  In forums, if any topic is related to any of your blog posts and if adding that link will help at least some of the members then only add your link with a keyword as anchor text.  In social networks, especially Google Plus, DO NOT SPAM with your links everywhere, instead, build a community there too, share your knowledge, share others posts if you find it useful respect others knowledge and queries.  For posting your link or sharing your blog posts, think of this: Are those who see, like this and get a click from at least some of them? If no, then do not post or share your link.  Link building is a very dangerous task in SEO, but it is safe if you do not spam those sites in which you place your links.
