Corund is one of the largest settlements of Hargita. It is situated in thevalley of a stream which has the same name as the village. The firstdocument of Corund is from 1333. As the agriculture was never enoughto support the population different trades formed, among them potter’scraft is the oldest one, but you can find tinder-making and charcoal-burning crafts as well. Permanent fair is held in the main square, wherecustomers can find not only the local craftsmen’s products, but they canbuy goods from masters of the neighbourhood. In the beginningcraftsmen made pots without glaze, and these pots were well-triedcooking utensils. The pottery craft of Corund was in danger many times. When the glazed pots came into fashion the young people were sent toSzékelyudvarhely, to learn the new methods. The potter’s craft cansupport the inhabitants well, so people don’t move to other settlementsfrom here.
