  • 1. HOW DID IATTRACT/ADDRESS MYAUDIENCE?
  • 2. HOW DID I ATTRACT/ADDRESSSOMEONE… • Female • Aged between 16 and 21 years old • With passion for fashion • In love with the rock genre
  • 3. FIRSTLY,HOW DID IATTRACT?
  • 4. 1) THE MASTHEAD IS MADE BY FEMININE BY NOT BEING TOO HARD ORBOLD, BUT IN A THIN AND MORE SLENDER FONT. THE COLOUR OF IT ALSOAPPEALS TO MY TARGET AUDIENCE BY BOTH BEING IN A FEMININE COLOUR BUTALSO A COLOUR WHICH IS TYPICAL FOR THE GENRE.
  • 5. 2) THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE ALL IN BLACK AND WHITE OR IN VERY LOWSATURATION, SOMETHING THAT IS VERY TYPICAL FOR THE ROCK GENRE. THESEPHOTOGRAPHS SHOW OF THE RANGE OF TOPICS WITHIN THE MAGAZINE; THEFASHION, THE FESTIVALS AND CONCERTS, AND THE PERSONAL INTERVIEWS ANDPHOTOSHOOTS. THEY WILL THEREFORE SPEAK TO MANY OF THE INTERESTS OF A TYPICALMISSFITS-GIRL. ALL THE MODELS ARE IN THEIR TEENAGE YEARS, WHICH WILL DRAW IN THETARGET AGE GROUP, AND THE MODEL’S COSTUMES WILL APPEAL TO THEIR EYE FOR3)FASHION. The colour scheme of black, white and red istypical to the rock genre, especially older rock, andtherefore speaks to the rock interested.
  • 6. 4) EVEN THOUGH MY TARGET AUDIENCE IS MIDDLE CLASS, WHICH MEANS THEYARE PROBABLY NOT STRUGGLING WHEN IT COMES TO MONEY, FREE STUFF ARE STILLFREE – NO ONE CAN RESIST A GOOD GIVEAWAY.
  • 7. 5) THE MAGAZINE IS NOT OF THE CHEAPEST, AN ELEMENT THAT WILL SPEAK TOTHE MIDDLE CLASS. A HIGHER PRIZE SAYS THAT THE MAGAZINE WILL HAVE A HIGHSTANDARD AND MAYBE TALK ABOUT BRANDS POPULAR IN THE MIDDLE CLASS. THEFACT THAT THERE IS BOTH A PRIZE IN POUNDS AND IN DOLLARS SAYS THAT THEMAGAZINE IS POPULAR IN THE UNITED STATES AS WELL, WHICH MEANS THAT YOUCAN BE A FAITHFUL READER ALSO WHEN YOU ARE TRAVELLING. THIS ALL FITS ANDAPPEALS TO THE MIDDLE CLASS PERSONALITY, AND TO A PERSON WHO WISHES TOBE DEDICATED TO THE MUSIC.
  • 8. 6) THE COVER LINES ATTRACT THE TARGET AUDIENCE BY BEING ABOUT THEIR ROCKROLE MODELS, INSPIRING THEIR SENSE OF FASHION AND TELLING THEM ABOUTOPPORTUNITIES TO EXPERIENCE THEIR IDOLS LIVE. THESE ARE LINES THAT WOULDDEFINITELY SPEAK TO THE INTERESTS OF THE MISSFIT-GIRL.
  • 9. THEN,HOW DID IADDRESS?
  • 10. 1) THE LANGUAGE I HAVE USED IN ALL THE PAGES IS QUITE FORMAL AND THEREFORE ADDRESSESAN OLDER AND MORE SERIOUSE AUDIENCE. MY TARGET AUDIENCE IS SERIOUS ABOUT MUSIC, ANDTHIS THEREFORE APPEALS TO THEM. BUT FOR MY CONTENTS PAGE THE LANGUAGE IS A BIT MOREFREE, FUN AND WRITTEN TO GIVE A SENSE OF BELONGING, SOMETHING I DID TO GIVE THE READERSMORE TO IDENTIFY WITH. our favurite rebel welcomes you everything you need to know your story vistiting you us ‘MISSFITS’-girls, we can, fellow lovers of rock, goodies for you too,
  • 11. 2) THE DPS IS WRITTEN IN A VERY FORMAL TONE. IT IS WRITTEN MORE LIKE ADISCRIPTION OF THE SITUATION AND THE CONVERSATION, RATHER THAN WITH THETYPICAL ‘QUESTION-ANSWER’ STRUCTURE. THIS IS A MORE COMPLEX AND DETAILEDWAY OF WRITING AN INTERVIEW, AND WILL THEREFORE SPEAK TO MY TARGETAUDIENCE AS THEY ARE GIRLS WHO WANTS TO GET DEEP WITH THE ARTISTS.
  • 12. 3) IN MY DPS ARTICLE I USED SOME FRASES THAT I HOPED WOULDADDRESS MY TARGET AUDIENCE IN A WAY WHICH MADE THEM FEELTHAT ‘MISSFITS’ WAS A SERIOUS AND KNOWLEDGABLE MAGAZINE.• “Get plugged in with the guitar”- Slang from within the genre.• “Whatever life throws at me”- Speaking in metafores tells that the artist is an emotional, real peson.• “With dramatic arms and facial expression, one can easily see that this is a topic close to Laura’s heart” – Discriptions of the situation lets the reader feel more a part in the conversation.
  • 13. 4) ALL THE PHOTOS, EXCEPT FOR THE FRONT COVER, ARE TAKEN AT PLACES THE‘MISSFITS’-READER CAN IDENTIFY WITH THE ARTISTS. BOTH THE FESTIVAL SETTING AND THEGRITTY, ‘SOMEWHERE IN TOWN’ SETTING FITS THE ROCK GENRE. THE READERS WILL BEABLE TO RELATE TO THE FESTIVAL PHOTOS, EITHER BY THINKING OF WHEN THEY WERE AT AFESTIVAL OR THAT THEY WANT TO GO TO A FESTIVAL IN THE FUTURE. FOR THE DPS PHOTOTHE READERS WILL BE ABLE TO RELATE TO THE ARTIST BY HER OUTFIT, BY EITHER WANTINGTO ASPIRE TO HER LOOK, OR BY RECOGNISINING THEIROWN STYLE.
