  • 1. The American Breast Cancer Foundation
  • 2. About the Foundation
    • The American Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF) was founded in 1997 so that everyone will have access to early detection and be able to have a chance for survival.
  • 3. Mission
    • The American Breast Cancer Foundation helps people in need, their families and their loved ones with support and early detection. It also helps them to understand and learn more about breast cancer and how to fight it.
  • 4. Outputs
    • The American Breast Cancer Foundation provides direct financial assistance to uninsured people. They assist in clinical breast exams, ultrasounds, and emergency biopsies.
    • They help patients with wigs, prescription medication, and breast prostheses.
  • 5. Inputs
    • The American Breast Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization guided by a volunteer board of directors.
  • 6. Process
    • They offer translation services to accommodate most languages.
    • They support research for treatment and patient support methods through leading medical institutions, such as clinics and hospitals.
  • 7. Outcomes
    • The American Breast Cancer Foundation has helped people with no medical coverage.
    • The ABCF has helped people with grants so that they are able to get mammograms.
    • The ABCF gives peace of mind to those in need and show that they are caring and knowledgeable.
  • 8. Goals
    • October is recognized as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM). The primary purpose is to promote screening mammography as the most effective way to save lives by detecting breast cancer at early stages.
  • 9. Community
    • GET INVOLVED
    • Make a difference in the fight against cancer. Find events and volunteer opportunities in your area.
  • 10. Critical Thinking
    • The emotional impact of cancer diagnosis, symptoms, treatment, and related issues can be severe.
    • Most larger hospitals organize a support group which provides a supportive environment to help patients cope and gain perspective from cancer survivors.
  • 11. Critical Action
    • By attending support groups I can conclude that it could prove to be very beneficial to cancer patients, especially in dealing with uncertainty and body-image problems.
  • 12. Key to Life Program
    • Through the Key to Life Program women and men of all ages can have a breast cancer screening and have diagnostic tests administered to them if they are unable to afford it.
