An elderlyChinese womanhad two largepots, each hungon the ends of apole, which shecarried across herneck.
One of the potshad a crack in itwhile the otherpot was perfectand alwaysdelivered a fullportion of water.
At the end of thelong walk fromthe stream to thehouse, thecracked potarrived only halffull.
For a full two years this went ondaily, with the woman bringinghome only one and a half pots ofwater.
Of course, theperfect pot was proudof its accomplishments.
But the poor cracked pot wasashamed of its ownimperfection, and miserablethat it could only do half ofwhat it had been mad...
After 2 yearsof what itperceived tobe bitterfailure, itspoke to thewoman oneday by thestream.
“I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.”
The old woman smiled, “Did younotice that there are flowers onyour side of the path, but not onthe other pot’s side?
That’s becauseI have alwaysknown aboutyour flaw, so Iplanted flowerseeds on yourside of thepath, and everyday while wewalk...
“For two yearsI have beenable to pickthesebeautifulflowers todecorate thetable.”
Without you beingjust the way you are,there would not bethis beauty to gracethe house.”
Each of us has our own unique flaw…
But it’s thecracks andflaws weeach havethat makeour livestogether soveryinterestingandrewarding.
You’ve just gotto take eachperson for whatthey are and lookfor the good inthem.
