Now try Inventor and you will never bother to use AutoCAD (or AutoCAD Mechanical) again. Nothing like a 3D Parametric modeler and you don’t even lose your AutoCAD data since you can reuse it. You can even upgrade your AutoCAD and AutoCAD Mechanical. However, still need training but hey you need a driver licence before buying a car, don’t you?

Get rid of ACAD Mechanical’s annoying ’Mechanical’-ness? You are not making any sense mate, if I follow you AutoCAD Architecture should also get rid of its ’Architectural-ness’, AutoCAD Civil 3D of its ’Civil-ness’, AutoCAD Electrical of its ’Electrical-ness’??? if you are not a specialist draughtman, then stick to AutoCAD or LT that is why they are here for, but stop moaning. The content of the sofwtare is in the title so when you read ’AutoCAD Mechanical’ you can’t say you have not been warned. When you buy any CAD software, don’t be 'cheap' and buy yourself some training course. It is an investment but at the end it pays out and very quickly if you are motivated. I have worked with many draughties and I guarantee the user is always less potent than the software itself. Buying a new software always require a period of adaptation and sometimes it also requires to change the way you used to deisgn. With Mechanical coming from AutoCAD, the gap is easy to cross. Good software when you have had the proper training (2 to 3 days max plus a bit of support and here you go)

Several things I really would like about ACAD Mechanical 2010:
    - A way to get rid of ACAD Mechanical’s annoying enforcement of crap non-userfriendly rules
    - A way to get rid of ACAD Mechanical’s annoying enforcement of its bloody 'structure'
    - A way to get rid of ACAD Mechanical’s annoying 'Mechanical'-ness.

Gimme Autocad 'Vanilla' with support for the few things of Mechanical that re useful, like the Bill of Materials. Or at least 'Vanilla' that will open Mech drawings w/o messing them up.

Autocad Mechanical is the most annoying and terrible program I have ever encountered in my life and the first time in 2 decades that I would advise anyone to stay as far away as they can from this Autodesk product. Before I had to work with this I was quite a 'fan', but now really I have murderous thoughts about the Mechanical development crew every time it starts annoying me with its bloody stupid 'structure' and such.

Unless youre really into cogs and drive chains: Stay the hell away from this monster!
