Welcome to Atos Consulting Expectations of the HR function grow year-on-year and increasingly HR leaders must think outside the box to join up strategy, technology, process and people in a powerful way to succeed. Many organisations are choosing to adopt the Ulrich delivery model in a bid to improve the value added by the HR function at a strategic level. This is often due to a failure to invest in developing HR staff so that they understand and are able to fulfill their role in the transformed HR function.       Making Business Partnering work in practice The role of the HR Business Partner is to work in partnership with key stakeholders to achieve their strategic ‘people’ objectives. As HR departments continue to battle to maintain a a solid reputation of adding value to the organisation, HR professionals must be well equipped to deal with challenges and resistance. This means that HR employees must be highly skilled if they are to successfully win over their business clients and deliver the people strategy. The fundamental skill set of a successful BP is different to traditional HR roles – including consultancy skills, change management, stakeholder management and strong influencing abilities. HR Business Partners need to be business savvy, credible individuals with an ability to form deep, strong relationships and really get under the skin of the organisation. This role change and accompanying skill-set must be explicitly recognised and time be invested in developing staff if they are to become competent Business Partners.

      • Our work placed Atos at the heart of the MoD’s transformational Procurement Reform programme and included the provision of 50,000 training hours, developing the core capabilities of over 1,000 staff as well as developing procurement awareness in approximately 4,000 staff.
      • As part of this programme, Atos recognised that the real value of the training was in the sustained use of new skills and therefore placed a percentage of its fees at risk based upon the delivery of demonstrable sustained capability within the teams trained. The outcome ensured that the value of the investment made by the MoD was maintained well beyond the scope of the training programme with the skills trained by Atos being used throughout the MoD DLO organisation (including the HRBP population), driving improved value for money and performance throughout the business.
      • Resolution
      • Atos Consulting has been working alongside Resolution from start-up through to its current position as a FTSE 100 company. Resolution’s pace of change is extremely fast and the HR function is at the heart of the company’s success, enabling it to achieve mergers and acquisitions smoothly and continue with its core strategy for growth.
      • Working with Atos Consulting, Resolution now has clear HR strategies and a template to use for rapid HR planning and project management needed to deliver large-scale change. In addition to supporting HR in successful mergers and acquisitions, our work with Resolution was a key enabler to modernising the HR function, including a shift towards self-service and the introduction of flexible benefits. Our work has included harmonisation of terms, systems, processes and payroll as well as union consultation, employee communications, reward, recruiting, relocations, pensions, HR administration, and learning and development. We are currently shortlisted for an MCA award (2008) for our work.

    8. Client References 11 AXA Group In 2007, Atos Consulting worked with AXA Life, an important financial services provider within the life insurances field. AXA the Netherlands was part of the AXA group, the second largest global financial services company. A small team of World-class HR Atos consultants was asked to implement a high-profile improvement programme. Atos completed a fully integrated change and communication approach as part of a service improvement programme, that targeted an upgrading of the support-role towards the management and employees. At the heart of this “hands on” approach was the realisation of this change in cooperation with the employees and the customers. The approach resulted in the first ever increase in the customer satisfaction score within a year (from 5,8 to 7,2). Atos was able to turn theory into practical tools and methods. One of the Atos Consultants received an AXA Oscar for “best consultant of the year 2007”. Delta Lloyd Group During 2006/2007, Atos Consulting was responsible for the reorganisation and innovation of the Delta Lloyd Group HR discipline within the existing four group labels (DL Bank, Insurances, Ohra and ABN AMRO Insurances). The goal was to integrate all the personnel and salary-administration activities, design and build a Shared Services Centre, outsource all the PSA DLG activities and design a blueprint for an integrated DLG HRM organisation, including all management, business partner, expert centres and front office resonsibilities. With this a new balance between the HR responsibilities within HRM and line management was introduced. Within the boundaries of the budget and agreed timeframe, Atos reached a full agreement with unions, delivered all the completed deliverables, caused no undirected retention and was nominated for the Dutch Sourcing Awards 2007

Delivery Team Sample Our HRBP Development Programme will be delivered by an international team of thought leaders and practitioners in the HR field, each coming from experienced HR positions, of varying levels, in blue chip and public sector organisations. Our delivery team is currently located in UK, France, the Netherlands and Spain. The six profiles below are representative of our wider Delivery Team of over 30 HR professionals drawn from across Europe. 12 Pamela Rijks: A n Executive Business Consultant within the World-Class HR Group and wider management team. Pamela has performed different, professional roles as Commercial Manager and HR Business Consultant, and managed HR departments and HR change management projects and programmes within a national and international environment. Petra Weidenaar: A Senior Business Consultant, experienced in participating or leading international projects in the areas HR and Change. Petra’s key skills are in organisational design, administrative HR processes, Performance Management, Workforce Planning, Training and HR Business Partnership. Scott McArthur : An HR and change consultant, speaker and writer with 10 years HR experience in industry (including British Gas, Fisher Group and Scottish and Newcastle). Scott has delivered hundreds of international learning and leadership events. In 2005 he was part of the team that won the Gold MCA Learning and Development award. Samantha Barklam: An experienced large scale project manager with major ope rational and consulting experience in HR within Financial Services, Construction, Telecoms, IT, Charity, Services, Retail and Pharmaceutical sectors. Currently short-listed for an MCA Award for her HR work. Robert Scherder: A Principal Consultant within the World Class HR group, Robert has previously worked as HR-manager for 3 international banking insurance companies (Suez, KBC and ING). As a programme manager he was responsible for the reorganisation of the Delta Lloyd Group HR department. Jessica den Hartog: An experienced internal and external HR consultant, having worked for a number of international banking companies (ABN-Amro, Lease plan Corporation, ING). Jessica has wide substantive experience within the HRM area in assisting re-organisations, improving HR processes, implementing SLA's and facilitating training courses.
