I
am Anthony Ezeokoye Obuchukwuneme “Anth”, a
Nigerian. I studied Architecture at University of Nigeria,
Nuskka (UNN). I am a concept designer, digital artist,
graphics designer, cartoonist / illustrator and animator. I co-
founded INSECTA Designs

I am passionate about creating utilitarian designs and freedom
in artistic expressions. Through my inherent flair for visual
expression, I have successfully organised and also participated
in schemes that served as key points towards encouraging me
and the people I am associated with.
I am involved in continuous extensive self-training and personal
development. I enjoy learning from and working with people
from diverse fields and spheres of professionalism because I am
highly concerned with affecting the world around me through
significant selfless efforts.
My objective is to contribute and serve humanity in my own little
ways with my love for creating new designs. My motivation is
sustainability and my goal is to design the future.

P
eople ask... ‘Hey Anth, what do you do
when you’re not designing?’ I respond;
‘Thinking up ideas, playing and thinking
up more ideas.’ Ok, it’s not like I’m from space or
something, far from that, but that’s just how I’m
programmed to function... I like to say it like this,
‘I’m a designer by design’.
Right from when I was really young, I’ve been
designing stuffs so it comes naturally from within
me. At some point, I was asking myself whether I
was born holding a pencil and a sketch-pad... I
guess so. :/
Growing up, I never really had any icons or
someone I looked up to for guidance or
motivation in the fields of arts and design; there
was really no one I learnt from precisely. I was
a pure science geek with an inherent flair for
art. I had people I worked with. People like my
brothers and my cousin, and we inspired each
other by sharing ideas, drawing / sketching-
up stuffs and developing them just to make
ourselves happy and keep our friends and
fans entertained. We loved watching TV and
sneaking out of home to play video games in
gaming houses and arcade (Dad prohibited
everything that doesn’t have a connection to
reading and passing school exams). Throughout
my childhood, I never watched movies and
cartoons comfortably and every movie that
other kids were watching was painstakingly
narrated to me by my friends Lucius Unegbu and
Wale Oladimeji. I had a very vivid imagination,
so I creating every single movie action I was told
in my mind.
I’m not used to having role models, so I don’t
have one precisely. I have people I admire
in all my core areas of interest, locally and
internationally and also people I hope to work
with as I grow (I chose them, it means they are
super-spectacular) Check them up. I’m going
to mention just a few of them in no specific
order of importance or preference.
In architecture: Frank Ghery, Zaha hadid, Renzo
Piano, Daniel Libeskind, Vincent Callebaut;
art and visual effects; Walt Disney, James
Cameron, Joe Maduriera, Alex Alvarez; tech;
Steve Jobs, Larry Page, Bill Gates; Business;
Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Thrump etc.
In the Nigerian creative industry, I respect the
works of Kelechi Amadi-Obi, Andrew Anama
(Cartoon Architect), Martins Utsu, James Abinibi,
Kanso ‘obk’ Ogbolu and a host of others.

D
esigning is fun, I love
doing it. I also enjoy
the continuous learning
process entailed in every design
I’m engaged in. But for my
limited financial resources at the
moment, I’d love to further my
learning process in schools like
Gnomon School of Visual Effects
(www.gnomonschool.com) or any
other specialized school of design
with such calibre. Actually, my
development so far has been out
of passion and personal efforts all
the way, I mean I’ve never had
any specialized school training
or individual mentoring in art or
designing (before architecture).
BEHIND THE
*SEEN*

I
co-founded Insecta Animations in 2009 (in school) with Kenneth
Frank. Together, we practically trained ordinary people into
becoming graphics designers, amongst whom we selected
the best to form our campus team; Team Insecta. Team Insecta
comprised Chinedu Izuchukwu (cartoon and anime), Ifeanyi Echendu
(architecture and graphics design), Ese Gbodume (anime updates
and graphics design), Teriso Raphael (design competition updates and
graphics design), Uchechi Ede (graphics design), Chimaobi Ahuekwe
(Scriptwriting), Enyinaya Onwubiko (IT personnel / webmaster), Kenneth
Frank (chief graphics coordinator) and Me (Team leader/ creative
director). We had a fantastic learning process working together while
we were undergraduates. Being in department of architecture, our
spare time was extremely limited yet we spent time cultivating values
of selflessness as we used our own resources to finance public design
training sessions we put together to empower people who have
interest but no one to guide them through, in learning the art. The team
recorded spectacular successes, hard times, ‘choking’ (slang for having
not finished our work at scheduled deadlines) and fun times as well. As
we graduated from school, the team separated and we’ve since then,
collaborated on projects as creative individuals and the ‘personal skills
development’ objective for which the team was formed is upheld. I
owe a lot of respect and gratitude to my former teammates at Team
Insecta.
I have been involved in several projects and my portfolio has a couple
of them displayed.
In summary, I’m a concept designer... I’m Anth and I’ll be pleased to
design for you or with you.
