    • Knight Industries began in 1984 as a specialty design/build shop, solving specific manufacturing problems for the automotive industry in Detroit. As specialty systems became standards for Knight, we evolved into designing and replacing original material handling systems with ergonomic solutions. We have grown from 3 employees and 4,000 square feet of floor space in 1984 to over 190 employees and over a 150,000 square feet of floor space today. Our headquarters are located in Auburn Hills, MI.

    • Faster than an air system. Electronic signals are inherently faster. Instantly lifts all loads up to the rated capacity of the unit and sets them down with no delay.
    • More accurate than an air system. Instant response to operator commands and provides precise and accurate movements.

    The Servo Hoist System: The Pneumatic System:
    • Less environmentally friendly.
      • Operating costs are higher because greater amounts of energy is needed to make pressurized air.
      • Higher potential for greater maintenance costs due to air leaks and the infrastructure of pneumatic systems.
    • Slower than a servo hoist. Must pressurize with air to lift a load and exhaust to set it down again. The heavier the load, the more delay.
    • Less accurate than a servo system due to compression of air which could produce a significant amount of "bounce" or "drift" as the load settles into position.
    • Generally, no programmable features.
    • A narrower knowledge base for pneumatic troubleshooting.

  • 6. Servo Hoist KSH250-2301 Enables the operator to precisely locate and/or float a load in the “Z” direction using programmable limits. The hoist has the lifting capacity of up to 700lbs[317kg] (single chain) and 1000lbs [454kg] (Reeved unit). The hoist can travel up to 200fpm (70mpm) Knight Servo Systems Servo Hoist Twin Chain KSHTC250-2301 Incorporates the benefits of a Servo System into a twin chain process. The twin chains help control unwieldy or long parts. The standard hoist has the lifting capacity of up to 1400lbs [522kg] (Dual motor unit). The hoist can travel up to 200’ fpm[70mpm].

  • 10. Servo Hoist and Tractor KSXYZ700-2301 Combines both “X” , “Y” and “Z” movements in one handle. This Servo Hoist has the lifting capacity of up to 700lbs[317kg]. The hoist can travel up to 184’ fpm[56mpm]. Knight Servo Systems Servo Rack and Pinion Tractor KST4000-2301 Accurately locates a load in the “X” and/or “Y” direction. The tractor can move a load of up to 4000lbs[1814kg]. The tractor can travel up to 184’ fpm[56mpm].
  • 11. Window Alignment Fixture (Spider Fixture) A twin chain dual motor Servo Hoist that simulated the load of a convertible top to allow for accurate window alignment on the vehicle. Knight Servo Systems In Action Pallet Return Fixture The Servo System transfers a 700lb pallet, following a virtual path, from a carrier to a conveyor. The Servo Tractors are synchronized to move the fixture in a consistent motion to allow pick-up of a moving pallet and allows the operator to precisely load the pallet with little to no effort to the delivery point. Intuitive Motion The “X,Y,Z” Servo system reacts to the operators natural movements regardless of the direction the operator moves in. The precision of the system allows for these movements to be invisible to the operator.
  • 12. Transmission Mount to Engine The operator mounts a transmission to the engine by setting upper and lower limits on the Servo Hoist. The limits allow the operator to directly mount the transmission to the engine without having to find the location with the pendant control. Operator can mount various different transmissions to engines by using the float mode that is integral to the Servo Hoist without the use of a pendant control. Knight Servo Systems In Action Package Assembly System The “X,Y,Z” Servo System follows a pre-set virtual path with the hoist lifting in the up/down "Z" movement and the Servo Tractor traveling with the load in a horizontal "X","Y" movement. The pre-set path delivers the package to the unload position where an operator unloads the package. The operator holds the Return to Home button and sends the “X,Y,Z” Servo System back to the start position. Safety Interrupt If the Servo System is moving in Auto-Mode, and an obstruction or operator is within its path, the Servo System will stop once contact is made.
