The prospects of Graphic Design is very vast as long as the graphic designer can market himself and go above the competition in creativity, innovation and concepts. To be a graphic designer, it is often advisable to attend a graphic design school for at least a summer course, however, becoming a top notch graphic designer has to do with having hours and hours of practice, concept development and lots and lots of out-of-the – box work. A graphic designer must have creative flair, a strong visual sense, strong computer skills, flexibility, the ability to balance work on several projects at a time, good team working skills and an awareness of the competitive business environment in which they work. Graphic Designers can work with a company or on freelance basis, graphic design work involves sitting and working at a computer for long periods. Here are a few prospects of graphic Designers and a reason why you should consider becoming a graphic designer.
  • 3. Print Graphics • Print Graphics is the most common prospect for graphic designers. It involves designing everything that would be in print. This includes books, novels, magazines, flyers, posters, pamphlets , newspapers and a lot more. Adobe illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign, CorelDraw etc are the core software for print graphics. Print graphics would include logo design, photo manipulation, digital painting, matte painting, typography, print layout, cover design and sequential art such as caricatures, comics etc.
  • 4. Packaging and Branding • Packaging and branding is also a major prospect of graphic Design. It focuses on the design of wrappers of products , design of merchandise and the development of a brand by the use of graphics. Advertising also falls under the packaging and branding umbrella. The common goal here is to market products and services and develop a brand, this is done with the help of graphic design. Packaging, branding and advertising jobs for graphic designers are usually very esteemed jobs with handsome benefits and rewards. Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe illustrator are the major software used in product packaging and branding.
