CFD for Indoor Environment
Design and Analysis
CFD refers to “Computational Fluid Dynamics”,
is a computational technology which evaluates
numerical methods and algorithms to simulate
fluid flow. In the building industry, this
technology is used to generate a visual
representation of a building's airflow, flow rates,
and space temperatures, for turbo machinery it
is used to predict the performance and flow
parameters.
Technical Expertise and Application Areas
Indoor Air Quality analysis
Human Comfort Analysis
Contaminant Control
Hospitality and Healthcare
Carbon-monoxide control
Industrial Ventilation
Precision temperature Control
Food and Pharmaceutical Ventilation analysis
CFD Can be used to analyze the
Ventilation system design for biosafety
labs. Factors such as fume containment,
safety of the working person, pressure
gradient relative to adjacent areas,
filtration, air changes per hour (ACPH),
temperature and humidity requirements
necessary to design the ventilation
system to meet requirements.
With CFD analysis we ensure the
compliance of ventilation system with
applicable codes such as:
ASHRAE 170-2008: Ventilation of
Health Care Facilities
NFPA 99: Health Care Facilities
Code
ASHRAE Standard 62.1: Ventilation
for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality
Contaminant Control
in Biosafety Labs
In general industrial environment
contaminant control, human comfort and
energy efficiency are main requirement of
HVAC system. For pharmaceutical and food
industry meeting the process requirement of
specific temperature and humidity with
human comfort is difficult to achieve and
mostly results in over-sized HVAC
equipment and inefficient system. CFD
analysis helps to evaluate the air distribution
inside the concerned space and achieve
process requirement efficiently with human
comfort as well as contaminants removal.
At DEINDE we simulate analyze and ensure
the effectiveness of HVAC system, air
distribution, human comfort parameters such
temperature and relative humidity meets the
design parameters with minimum energy
requirement.
Industrial Ventilation
Environment Analysis
Carbon monoxide control is a major
challenge in covered car parks. By using
CFD analysis we ensured that the ventilation
system meets the NBC, ASHRAE and WHO
guidelines for CO exposure and contaminant
control etc. The working of staircase
pressurization, zone modeling for CO
removal can also be analyzed. For a large
car park the zoning can also be done so as
to ensure operation of minimum fans to
remove the CO. This ensure the energy
saving in long run and best energy efficient
system.
We ensure the ventilation system design
meets the criteria for air quality as per
ASHRAE, WHO Guidelines and applicable
codes

Since data is crucial to most
organizations' operations, it must be
preserved, protected and accessible at all
times. For that to happen the cooling
system should work properly from the day
one itself. CFD analysis helps in verifying
the HVAC design even before it is
installed. One can make changes
beforehand to save themselves from a
breakdown or renovation cost. As it is
expensive to do changes after the system
is in place therefore CFD analysis comes
handy when it comes to design an
optimized and efficient cooling system for
any such application like data center.

Human comfort in the official and residential
applications can be effectively analyzed with
the help of CFD. The parameter like air
velocity, temperature, Relative Humidity,
CO2 levels can be evaluated in design stage
and huge energy savings can be achieved.
Under floor air distribution (UFAD) system
can be analyzed plenum pressure and
optimized air distribution. Other type of air
distribution systems such as mixed air
distribution, displacement model and be
analyzed.
