The momentary freedom that Penny may feel is very short lived, her thoughts of freedom are fleeting
and she hears one more ringing of the bell. The public sale of a woman is terrifying if you may happen
to be the next in line.
That extra ring, a further bidding is taking place, someone paying extra for the women in front of her, a
different woman, but just like Penny. She is anxious the other women, the frightened and terrified
uncovered women exposed from breast to butt as god had made her. The stripped down woman can
hardly stand, the quivering shows on her legs and breasts.
The resonance of another ringing louder this time, the clatter fading to a jingle the woman has been sold
to the highest bidder.
The man pushes through the crowd and moves toward Penny, she is next, she is always next.
Some mans urge, always passing the pretty penny.
Penny’s crying does not persuade the man to stop pushing.
The ringing starts again and the men shout and raise their hands.
