Kelley’s CornerPosted on March 30, 2011 by MWBusseI noticed it right when I moved to Acton several years ago–parts of it were unsightly, parts just looked plain old, but mostly, I noticed thatKelley’s Corner didn’t have what I would have expected it to have, given its prime location next to the schools and at the crossroads of twoof Acton’s biggest thru-ways, Route 27 (Main Street) and Route 111 (Massachusetts Ave) (some landmarks: KMart, the old Meineke buildingwhich is now a Chinese cafe, the bowling alley, Roche Bros, etc.).It turns out there is quite a history to Kelley’s corner, and quite a history of people in town trying to change it. Many studies and action planshave been written that tout great ideas for developing the area into a walkable, attractive little retail enclave. But so far, for a variety of reasons,not much progress has been made. So now it is your turn to weigh in.If you could change Kelley’s Corner, how would you? What kinds of shops would you like there? Which stores are yourfavorites there and which would you be glad to part with?
