    1. Using Voice Thread in the Classroom Annie McCabe Northcote Intermediate School
    2. Focus of the Inquiry
      • To explore the application, Voice Thread to see how it could be used in the classroom.
        • After working with Lynne and learning how to use Voice Thread I was very excited about the ways in which it could be used in the classroom.
        • I had been working with a team to make biodiesel out of used cooking oil and thought Voice Thread would be a useful way to record the process and to assess what the children had learnt.
        • Voice Thread also provided another Web2 tool to use on our Learning Management System to improve links between school, home and the community as well as create an authentic world-wide audience for the students’ learning.
    3. The Finished Product

      • Interesting
      • Comparing Voice Thread to similar programmes, e.g. Photostory – much smaller file to load on website and intranet.
      • Enormous potential for using Voice Thread as a presentation tool, sharing tool and assessment tool.
      • Minus
      • Requires quiet recording space
      • Access to microphone and laptop
      • Plus
      • Highly motivating
      • Many skills required to produce the voice thread
      • Students can access file and work on it from home
      • Multi purpose
      • World wide audience
      • Embeds easily on website and intranet
      • Cross curricula
      • Small file size
    5. Where to from here….
      • Consider using Voice Thread as an assessment tool, particularly within an ePortfolio
      • Share with home and the community via the intranet, mydesktop
      • Use Voice Thread with ESOL students to improve oral fluency and to share learning with family and friends in their home country
      • Discuss as a school how to manage recording voice threads; i.e. access to laptops and microphones, quiet recording room, supervision of students while recording, etc.
