Review by Secretriat of IOSEA Marine Turtle MoU -http://www.ioseaturtles.org/feature_detail.php?id=395 : "WWF-India has recently published a substantial publication that describes the distribution, status, threats and management implications regarding sea turtles found along the coasts of mainland India. The nine chapters cover the eastern coastal states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal; and the western coastal states of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Only the islands of Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep have been omitted from the review on account of resource limitations.
According to the chief editor, Dr Annie Kurian, this important compilation is based on the surveys initiated by WWF-India between 2010 and 2012 along the Indian mainland coast. It is a follow up to the report publications of the Government of India - UNDP sea turtle project (2000 and 2002), and UNEP/Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) surveys that followed subsequently."
The IOSEA further adds about the publication " It’s probably safe to say that this marvelous report represents the most comprehensive information currently available on the state of marine turtles along India’s mainland coast."Link-http://www.ioseaturtles.org/UserFiles/File/eNews_Archives/IOSEA_e_News_Aug13.htm
