Good Introductions Presentation Transcript

  • 1. OPEN WITH A QUESTION: Have you ever wondered how you’d survive if you found yourself alone in a wild fire?
  • 2. OPEN WITH AN ANNOUNCEMENT: A hurricane is expected within twenty-four hours. You may be told to evacuate.
  • 3. OPEN WITH A BOLD AND CHALLENGING STATEMENT: Contrary to what some people think, most of our learning takes place out of school.
  • 4. OPEN WITH A QUOTATION FROM SOMEBODY: “You’re going to regret this.” That’s what my teacher said when I did not take my CNN notes.
  • 5. OPEN WITH A RIDDLE OR A PUZZLE THAT THE READER CAN GRAPPLE WITH: What textbook has no pages, connects people cross the world, and has been around for just a few years?
  • 6. OPEN WITH A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: I’m still glad that I didn’t cry when those boys were bullying me, though I did in my room later.
  • 7. OPEN WITH HOW YOU FELT: My hands were trembling! My teeth wouldn’t quit chattering. Prickly fingers ran up my spine as I listened to the news report. What would happen next?
