When Love Strikes - evaluation

 1. 1. Evaluation
Babz, Abby, Emma 
2. 2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products ?
Locations- we decided that our characters should have conflicting locations, the girl was from the city and the boy was a country boy/farmer type. Most films we deconstructed, the ‘love’ couple were both from the city either rich or middle class, or at least had similar backgrounds. However we show that they are from two different background in the film but filming in the city areas and country/forests. http://01whhs12b2.blogspot.com/2009/10/ideas-for-location-number-3.html, http://01whhs12b2.blogspot.com/2009/09/ideas-for-location-number-2.html, http://01whhs12b2.blogspot.com/2009/09/ideas-of-location-number-1.html.
Plot- The plot of most romantic comedy films is usually a man and woman meet, part due to problems or some sort of obstacles and them ultimately united. Ours however is the typical boy meets girl but with a twist of them not knowing they love each other, despite their conflicting backgrounds.
Characters- We used characters that would be a typical of each of their backgrounds. For example the typical ‘city girl’ would be
Dressed in designer wear or high-street fashions
Very fashionable
Business-minded
Etc.
And for George it would be;
Dressing in very casual attire e.g. Checked shirts or t-shirts and jeans.
Doing manual/labour work.
Etc.
13. 13. Poster- We took inspiration from the poster, How to lose a guy in ten days, as this was a poster we deconstructed, it was really eye-catching and we really liked how they used effects and etc.
14. 14. Soundtrack-
we created our own soundtrack to the film using Garage band on the Mac PC’s, whereas most teaser trailers used, songs that are in the charts today e.g. Flo-rida – Right Round from the teaser trailer, The Ugly Truth.
15. 15. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Ways that our ancillary texts and main product were effective together were:
Helps advertise our products
Characters are used throughout the main product and ancillary texts
Same or similar fonts are used
Same colour schemes are worked through the main product and ancillary tasks
18. 18. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Internet-research and blogging
YouTube – to get our teaser trailers
Google – to use pictures for our research.
Video camera – capture all our footage
Still cameras – Used for poster and magazine and also to show our research
Macs- upload our footage or pictures, where we could edit them
iMovie HD – Allowed us to create our teaser trailer and add soundtrack and narration.
Garage band – we used to create our soundtrack for our teaser and record narrator
Power point – to make our wonderful slide! 
Also we looked at actual magazines and posters, which we scanned through on a scanner.
